Breakfast was great. location was near center of things. Staff was great, provided extra pillows when we requested. Price was great. Room and hotel were spotless. A little tight on space and hangers and shelving. Price was great. Beautiful views of the monastery from our window, loved that the windows opened wide for fresh air. Park outside was quite noisy until 3 am with some guys playing some game and music. Otherwise perfect for our 2 night stay before embarking on our bike and barge tour to Paris.

Beautiful city. With a cathedral and the larger St. Pierre Church. Lots of half-timbered houses. Very well preserved historical city! I only went to one restaurant in the short time I was there but the food was fantastic and the service good. The price was also reasonable.
A really great old town with some amazing architecture. Not particularly lively on weekend nights, it was quite difficult to find a restaurant (not fast food or a café) on Saturday night and the bars seemed to close at 19h00. Weird!
Auxerre has a pedestrian accessible bridge crossing the Yonne river from the Ibis we stayed at it was a five minute walk across to the Old City and one of the best lunches we had in France at Le Bounty restaurant, and very fairly priced at 35 euros ,drinks included
A beautiful little town with a number of old churches and cathedrals, Auxerre also has a number of riverside eateries. There are opportunities to travel the Canal du Nivernais either by bicycle or boat, spend a day at the riverside outdoor pool or just while away the time people-watching at the riverside park. If you are into football Auxerre has its own team and stadium. It is also easy to travel further afield to cities such as Orleans or Dijon. Travel around the local area is difficult unless you are driving; there is not much in the way of public transport, although the tourist information office has information on available school buses which take other passengers for a small fee. If you are able to travel then take a trip to the fabulous Guedelon castle near Saint Sauveur; an experimental archaeology project 22 years in the making!
During our stay in Auxerre which was Saturday and Sunday we struggled to find a restaurant that was not full or closed . Even to get a drink we struggled as even bars were closed by 9 pm. We ended up finding a shop to buy some wine which we drank in our hotel room. Wouldn’t return to Auxerre. People there were not so welcoming to tourists as we have found in other parts of France.
It's a lovely town. The old timber-framed houses are fantastic. The area along the river is very pleasant. The restaurants are good - and the bakeries. The self-guided walking tour was very interesting.
Location is great - quite walkable to the city centre. The house is beautiful. Petit déjeuner in the garden was lovely. Nelson the dog who greeted us was very hospitable.
