Located in the center of Briançon, 1148 feet from the chairlift and 9.3 mi from Monêtiers les Bains, Hôtel de la Chaussée offers a traditional restaurant, a bar and a terrace.

If you like hotels dripping with old-world charm, stay here. The room (and breakfast room) is paneled in wood, and full of strange carved objects and animals. Every time we entered our room, we were bathed in natural pine scent from the woodwork. Thu luggage "rack" in our room was a trunk bearing an inscription from the year 1799! Everything was comfortable, but simple. The breakfast was maybe one click too simple, but didn't detract from our stay. Our room was in a secondary (and very historic) building across the street from the hotel reception. We were planning to stay 4 nights but extended it to 5, because our large room (L1?) was comfortable, and the location, at the edge of the old town (but not the elevated Cite Vauban) was good. There is no end of outdoor activities here - hiking, biking, sightseeing, and presumably skiing in winter. Oh, and check out the Italian restaurant one block from the hotel; it's excellent, and always busy.

The old town was beautiful, but outside of that was difficult to get around as not much public transport. Used my bike and walking a lot for the majority of my stay. Some great restaurants to explore.

Great varierty of restaurants and shops. Everyone very friendly. Easy to park not very expensive. Paths cleared of snow. Lots to see and do that don't cost anything. A few takeaways .including McDonalds and vans selling pizza and kebabs which seemed to be doing briskly business. Well.worth a visit.

Good choice for active travellers because nestled in the intersection of several valleys (great possibilities for biking and hiking). The old part of the town is nice but a little bit too much turist-oriented: certainly it's a good choice for a rest day after sport activities.

Stayed in the summer for a cycling holiday. The new and old sides of Briancon are a travellers delight. You are not far from a number of popular cycling routes including the Col D’Izoard and Galbier. I will return

Excellent ski resort, with access to many ski runs along the valley and surrounding mountains. Outside the ski season, there are walks in almost every direction, with varying levels of difficulty. There is a good choice of hotels and restaurants, at various price levels. The town has two main parts, the "Old Town" being within a previously fortified locality, provides great views over the surrounding area. The "New Town" is relatively compact, and has facilities such as supermarkets that you would expect in any French town. Access to Briançon is straighforward by car or train, and flights to and from Turin airport can use a shuttle bus.

We loved our stay in the historical old town.

We loved our stay in the historical old town. We hired ski equipment close to the ski lift and had a locker which meant that everything was very straight forward as We didn’t need to carry equipment from our accommodation. The bus service was very unreliable particularly to the old town ....If you do not wish to climb the steep hill perhaps consider a different location. We visited when there was an excessive snowfall, people were all helping each other, there always seemed to be a good community spirit even the very young were helping to clear the snow. Pathways were cleared regularly starting at 5.30am !

Nice apartment in Briançon close to the town centre and supermarkets. The apartment had plenty of room for 3 persons and it had enough facilities for a 1 week stay. Many people say that the helicopters landing and taking off at the Briançon hospital heliport are annoying, but they were not. If you're a mountaineer and will be out during the day, you will only encounter some landings in the evening. Also, helicopters do not fly at night, so it's not a big deal.

Great central location and walkable distance to visit the old town. Good choice of food at breakfast, not just a basic continental breakfast. Our room at the back had great views up to the old town and the mountains. Staff very friendly. Briancon town centre had a great vibe and places to eat and drink. Had a lockable garage where we could keep the motorbike overnight.

    - Breakfast exceptional continental style. The host lays out the breakfast items for arrival in the morning and is there to make sure you have what you want. Quality as well as quantity. - Room was large and had everything you would want in any hotel room - For a 'bed and breakfast' style accommodation, this is as good as it can get

Very clean and well renovated. Lots of space in the appartment. Everything looked bran new and didn't missed anything. This is one of the best appartment we've rent on the 13 we had for our summer vacations. In addition, it's a 10min walk to the Vauban city!! If we go back, for sure we are renting this appartment again.

We could also get SKY News & GBNews on YouTube. Could store bikes in garage which was located by trying keys in doors!!

Location. Perfect for skiers, close to the Prorel lift. Communication with the owners was efficient and clear. The apartment is as expected for this kind of apartments in Briancon (we've been previously in some simillar apartments in some neighboring buildings)
