Metz is really easy to walk around once you are in the city centre. We did have problems driving to our hotel and finding a way to the car park that was easily accessible. Once we had parked our car and deposited our luggage at the hotel we really enjoyed walking around this medieval city. The cathedral is impressive, really huge with lots to see inside and the area around the cathedral, including the riverside area, is lovely.
It was the worst value and very overpriced room I ever stayed in. The staff were fine. The wine drinking and begging at the main entrance was upsetting and disgraceful. I would recommend caution in what you give as a retainer and watch out for double payment taken from your bank or overcharged. Its an issue that should and hopefully be raised in Brussels under EU protection of consumers.
With ancestral connections to this area, we felt to compelled to visit this beautiful city, and we were not disappointed! Its historical significance is beautifully preserved in the fabulous "Golden Court" museum, the stunning "St.-Etienne" cathedral, as well as the Gallo-Romain "Saint-Pierre aux Nonnains" and the Templar Chapel. And not to be missed are the gorgeous Cocteau windows at the church of "Saint-Maximin." Metz kept us busy exploring for two full days. Off the beaten path, this lovely city center is deserving of any discerning traveler.
Many wonderful restaurants, parks and nice shops. Please, do not miss the exhibition at 49 Nord 6 Est museum: Betye Saar Serious Moonlight (until 22nd January 2023). It is a wonderful place. Do not miss the small and delicious garden.
I just loved Metz. Lovely architecture all around. With many beautiful buildings to be visited... High standard in shops, really good exhibitions to be checked out at Musee de la cours d'or and Centre Pompidou which is a must as is the Cathedral. There were also several events to be checked out, massive projections on Cathedral, food and craft festival... music... Nice beer to be tasted...
We went on a bank holiday and literally nearly everything was shut. Even the restaurant last were short in supply of those open and so they were very busy. Metz was not a pretty city. Everywhere seemed grubby and a little menacing in some areas. Would not have wanted to be there alone!
Metz
I stopped at this hotel on my way to Calais. Very clean, one double and one single bed in the room, plus a kitchenette! Where there was everything, from a small stove to microwave to fridge. My Labrador was also very welcome. The breakfast was amazing also, the bed comfortable and the surroundings silent and peaceful. The location is great, a nice walk into city centre. Will definitely stay here again if I find myself near Metz. Thank you very much!
Our room was large enough to be furnished in a style to match the ancient character of the building. Our window looked over the Cathedral Square to a side view of the cathedral. The manager and staff were engaging and constantly helpful. Even their restaurant recommendation was excellent. It was a wonderful Wellcome back into France from Trier and Germany.
Metz
Instead of a studio, I got an appartment, with separate bathroom, living room and spacious bedroom. The room is fully equipped to prepare a light breakfast and a simple meal. It is at less than 10 minutes walking from all the main points of interest of Metz city centre. The cleanlyness of the room was perfect, but the building has severe sanitary problems.
Excellent location with respect to city centre, shops restaurants, sights etcetera. Friendly helpful reception. No need to take the breakfast in the hotel as there are many good places on the nearby place st. Jacques. It is probably a great hotel when it rains during the night. Reduced price in the good car parking Republique.
First of all I liked the location of the hotel. It is located right between the old centre of the city and the new imperial area and so everything is easy to reach in walking distance. The staff was friendly and very aware of the corona situation. They kept distance and washed or desinfected their hands regularly.
The staff was exceptional and very welcoming. We were actually traveling with some fresh meats that they so graciously stored for us and provided ice for travel the next day. Their checking process is a little different and very personal; they check guests in via laptop at the hotel lounge/bar area.
Location is excellent. It's located in the city centre and close to all attractions. Swimming pool was nice, especially on hot days when we were there. Also, they have a few nice arcade games in the lobby and a foosball table in the pool area. Hotel staff were welcoming and friendly.
Located in the technopole area of Metz, this hotel is ok for an overnight stop whilst travelling. Lots of places to ear nearby and in a nice quiet part of town. Good amount of free parking and VERY nice staff.
Recently refurbished hotel close to the centre of town. Very comfortable, clean, and good customer service from the check in staff. We liked all aspects of the hotel and would recommend.
Classical style hotel with beautiful interior. which in places showed signs of wear and was being renovated. Room was renovated but carpet not yet. Very good breakfast.
The hotel is located in Metz's imperial district which is very central and convenient to visit the rest of the city.
Nice hotel, very comfortable beds. Clean and quiet. Close to the city center.
I liked the postion of the hotel which is not far from the ciy centre.
Super located and beautifully furnished hotel in surprising Metz.
Breakfast choice was very nice for such a small hotel.
