Currently a very strange place - with abandoned buildings, construction work and many closed down shops and businesses until you get into the real heart of Niort near Les Halles (indoor market) and the riverside. There are many organised music events in the park and in the centre which seemed very popular.

We really liked Niort and it was very easy to get to as it is very close to autoroutes and main roads. Not too much traffic, a lovely old town and the river was very pretty. The town has been modernised and developed well especially Port Boinot.

Niort is a large town with a large heart.
Niort is a large town with a large heart. Fantastic shops and restaurants are plentiful and if you get there in June to September on a Tuesday evening the whole town meets in the large square for drinks and music, just wonderful. There are beautiful buildings including Le Dongon, the Hotel de Ville, the market building and the Notre Dame. There's something for everyone in Niort and it has a great vibe.

A nice little town with a small grassed area on front of cafes and bars giving it a spacious feel. Many restaurants to choose from as well as local amenity shops. Cinema in the centre. Parking along the roadside free in many places. Pleasant to walk around the many small winding streets. Train station in town too. Niort is about 50 mins drive so nice to go into but better to drive away from the busyness of a tourist area and stay in Niort.

We travelled to Niort for the Jazz festival.
We travelled to Niort for the Jazz festival. We had a super evening with great music in the warm summer weather. Before that we had dinner at Le comptoir du Siam, a great Thai restaurant in the centre of Niort.
Niort has lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. There is a large CGR cinema which often has VO films (Version Originale), vital for English speakers whose French isn't fluent. There is a large pedestrian area in the centre which makes it easy to wander around. I recommend a visit!

Forgot to mention night Melissa and daytime Melissa, both exceptional. Daytime Melissa, the hotel manager went above and beyond duty to accommodate my every need, and I had a ton. Incredibly grateful. Will return every chance I have.

The location is excellent. It is in the centre of Niort and situated on a square which has a lovely selection of restaurants, cafés and bars. It is also very close to a huge underground carpark which only charged €7 for the overnight stay.
The receptionist on duty on the evening of 21/08/25 was friendly and helpful, and assured me that I would enjoy the surrounding locality.

Friendly chatty staff. Secure on-site parking behind the hotel with coded barrier entry/exit. Very comfortable bed, reasonably well equipped room. Good value for a short stay. Location is just outside the main town and near the river, short walk into the town and nice walk along the river crossing islands and weaving around. A good continental breakfast.

Absolutely everything. The attention to detail is second to none. Beautiful hotel, beautiful owners, beautiful stay. Hands down the best hotel in Niort and possibly in all of France. It is a bit of magic, please go and experience it for yourself.

This was a great hotel. The rooms and bathroom were very clean. There was no air conditioning in our room but fans were provided. The car park had working chargers for EVs. But the best thing was the staff; they were really friendly and helpful.
