Hôtel de Pavie, Hotel Porte Brunet, and Badon Boutique Hotel got great room view-related reviews from travelers in Saint-Émilion.
It's a magical city but be prepared to do some walking wearing flat shoes with non-slip soles due to the hilly and narrow roads being preserved as they were a gazillion years ago. There are many shops to peak the interests of many. Parking would be the most challenging event so keep the vehicle of choice the smaller the better. The historic Catholic Church has 9AM services on Sunday's who welcome parishioners. Most businesses speak a fair amount of English if French is not your primary language. Credit cards are preferred. The surrounding vineyards are immaculate and the streets are very clean and inviting!
Amazing restaurants book in advance if you wish a/c or one of the three Michelin star restaurants! Great walking around and inside the city. Entire city is beautiful. If you have spend a night or two.
Excellent for medieval history, wine tasting and majestic views of vineyards all combined within ~5 min walk radius. Great ambiance, old town streets, shops, wine caves, restaurants, pavement cafés etc. NB the town is built on/ around a hillside with steep cobbled stone steps and streets - best not to come with a stroller/pushchair or wheelchair!
VERY busy and gorgeous town, wonderful to walk in, especially the non-commercial parts, and outside the walls in the nearby vineyards. Parking is horrendous, and I can't imagine how busy it must be in the high summer season. But the shoulders are excellent, we were there in Spring and it was perfect. Preferred to stay out of the village (too busy, perhaps even noisy in the evenings?) and found wonderful apartment accommodation on the edge of the Dordogne River.
Imagine a town that had been settled for two millennia. Wine shops, restaurants, amazing architecture. It is a paradise … except for lack of parking. Then again, two millennia ago they didn’t envision this many visitors.
We love that Saint Emillion retains its ancient character while offering the visitor the best of facilities. Eating out can be pricey but so worthwhile. It can be difficult to get around by car and parking for the night might be difficult in high season. That said, we love it, we will return.
Saint-Émilion
Perfect place to stay in St Emilion. It’s clean and comfort. Private parking available. Take a 30 mins walk through the little paths between various vineyards to reach the old town for dinner was an enjoyable experience. The host recommended the Resturant ‘Le Tertre’ in the old town from which we had the best dinner in France so far. A little expensive but the taste of the dishes worth what you paid for and I believed that it would soon be starred by the Michelin.
Saint-Émilion
First of all, this property is in the middle of a vineyard and absolutely amazing. We stayed in their treehouse which had stunning views. The lady that took care of us made this hotel. She was so kind, attentive, and treated us like we were her family. We will absolutely stay here again. The tour of the chateau and vineyards the next day was phenomenal and the lady who gave us the tour, was amazing. This hotel is a true gem in St. Emillion.
What a pleasure to arrive at our hotel with parking at the door! The staff were so friendly always making sure that our every needs were being met, from offering to do our laundry to booking restaurants and wine tastings for us which, by the way are right outside the front door! The location was perfect for strolls down the narrow and nearly pedestrian streets. And the petit déjeuner was delocious!
Saint-Émilion
After a not-so-good travel day from Paris to Bordeaux, losing an iPhone and driving a manual geared rental car 55kms in Friday afternoon traffic, meeting Ben and Mathew the hosts, were the perfect remedy...their sense of humor and recognition of my difficult day made all of that fade away. All of the employees were very familiar with their surroundings and offered their advise on travel issues.
Saint-Émilion
Location was excellent, studio well equipped to cook, but only used for cereal and hot drinks as ate out during or two day stay. The receptionist at the hotel was excellent and went above and beyond to provide useful information. Parking at a charge was secure behind the adjoining hotel. Would highly recommend Medieval restaurant very close to accommodation.
Saint-Émilion
Perfect for our needs. Close to centre ,air conditioning, good comfy bed and very clean. Someone obviously cared about providing good simple accommodation at a fair price. It didn’t feel like the anonymous decor of the chain hotels. Thoroughly reccommended
Saint-Émilion
I was expecting something way better. It is not a bad place but it looks more like B&B than to a hotel Great Location New bed, although quite hard Renovated MAGNIFIC VIEWS (definetly the highlight of my room)
