The host was extremely nice to us the entire time, the entire stay felt very pleasant. We were saddened that we weren't able to say goodbye, since he was away when we left.

What an amazing cottage. Perfectly prepared, fully stocked, all by lovely people. Slightly shy of the Peaks but located high in a beautiful location with some great options you'd otherwise miss (we walked the canal, aqueduct finishing on The Cloud one day, and Luds Church another). The cottage is well spaced, comfy beds and the fully stocked kitchen was one best bonuses I've ever had staying at a cottage. It all made for a lovely, romantic, weekend away.

We did not eat locally, tending to cook for ourselves or, if travelling further afield finding somewhere nearby. Plenty of supermarkets locally to choose from. Buxton, especially the Pavilion Gardens, and Bakewell are well worth visiting. Locally Mow Cop is a must. We appreciated the floral displays in towns such as Congleton and were impressed by the lack of litter. Shame about the potholes everywhere!
