Good location, easy to find and good breakfast starting early for those with an early boat from Harwich. We enjoyed the Christmas decorations and were happily surprised by the free drinks in the bar.

The Hotel is well located and has plenty of parking. The staff were very friendly, rooms are comfortable and the showers are decent.

Large comfortable room, lovely bathroom, friendly and efficient staff

A total gem...we had travelled over for a funeral, had never been to Colchester before so we were tired and emotional by the time we arrived around 7pm. Danny met us with a big smile and his infectious enthusiasm for the hotel and Colchester was a tonic. He was full of local knowledge and keen to make our short stay as good as possible and he absolutely did. We slept well, everything you could need in our room (5) very well equipped with tea, coffee, water, biscuits, hot chocolate etc...Our breakfast was very nice, fresh hot coffee and lots of fruit, bagels, yoghurt and pastries. Danny was busy drawing us a map to help us find the crematorium when we went to check out. Every hotel needs a "Danny" he made a difficult and emotional time for us so much easier. His kindness and attention to the small details that matter so very much will live long in our memory. Thank you Danny.

Location, staff, ambience, restaurant and a great breakfast.

First of all the staff are first class. At all levels they are perfect and professional. The services from the Spa, to the rooms, restaurants, sports bars were all spot on and all our family and friends that joined us for 6 days were also impressed. We will come back.

Really peaceful, great menu for food

Comfy rooms and breakfast was lovely

Very scenic. Staff were the best, very helpful and exceptional in making my stay wonderful !

Our room was great, incredibly spacious but still very cosy feeling. The staff were extremely attentive and the complementary car service is an incredible bonus. We had breakfast delivered to the room one of the mornings and this was exceptional also.

Beautiful restoration with quality finishes. Outstanding shower. Friendly and helpful staff. Good menu choices. Perfect.

Very friendly approach to my family. Very good room selection for 3 of us. Great location, very comfortable rooms, real good breakfast with great tastes. Thanks for everything. You are our hotel choice in Colchester from now on.

We found this hotel for our summer vaction through Google and were directly in love with the photos of this old and historic building and it's wonderful countryside. But the view in person was even better! The rooms are wonderful and romantic, the staff is more than heartwarming and did everything they could to make our stay wonderful. In all my years I n ever have seen such passion for their job! The restaurant and breakfast are simply amazing and I had the best Egg Benedict in my life! I can only recommend this hotel for vacation, marriages and a nice weekend if you are looking for something simply amazing!
