The atmosphere was great, the decoration and history of the building was unique. The staff, the ambiance and the food were superb! We had such an enjoyable time, if anything not long enough to soak it all in. Having a tour after breakfast was a great extra we didn’t know was available on booking, and we learnt so much about the castle. The History leaflets made for great reading as well. The room guard is another wonderful little touch. We stayed in the Derwentwater Room (room 1), and what a room it was! Highly recommend for anyone to stay and we hope to be back to try out another room.

The pods are set in a cluster of 6, in a secluded pocket of wild heaven next to Langley Dam in gorgeous Northumberland on a working farm. With privacy, space and fabulous views; the pods are cosy and warm with everything you need. Great location for exploring the area. All sustainably fuelled/managed and complimented by Jo and Ben’s warm hospitality. Evening round the fire pit and hot tub under the moon. Bliss.

The bothy was cosy and comfortable and everything we had hoped for. The stormy weather added to the pleasure of sitting in front of the log burner and watching old Christmas movies! Our hosts Harry and Louise were very pleasant and helpful and went the extra mile by providing logs on our first night with Harry cutting them up during a bad storm. A big thank you for that! The tranquility and beautiful scenery completed our weekend.

Visited for the New Year Tar Barrel and had a great time.

Visited for the New Year Tar Barrel and had a great time. Mile or so walk into village which was easier on way in than way back. Pretty village with lovely walks. A real get away but only 11 miles from Hexham with its facilities.
