Grounds are stunning with a beautiful beer garden with meticulously kept herbaceous borders. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent including offering locally smoked Craster kippers. The inn is undergoing lots of improvements under its new owners but whether or not our room has had a makeover it was beautifully appointed in soft green walls and simple but unobtrusive soft furnishings and our window looked out onto flower gardens.

Alnmouth is a nice place. I chose this Hotel by visual memory from last year visit (we did not sleep, just passed by the beach). What a nice and lovely structure. The girls helped me by bringing all the luggage upstairs (I was ashamed, but tired and grateful). Check-in was made in 15 seconds sharp. The restaurant is very good. Breakfast is tasty and served hot in matter of minutes. The room is clean beyond limits, and the biscuits next to the coffee pot are delicious!. Roomy bathroom. Very modern but also traditional looking. An interesting mix, and clearly a choice of the girls running the site.

I’m a Northumberland lass born and bred… living in Switzerland for many years now! Coming to Craster brought back all of the wonderful memories of my childhood, including the delicious fresh local 🦀! It also reminds me that I am raised in a truly beautiful part of the world! And boy do I miss the Geordies!🩷

Craster is a small fishing village not a lot going on, but...

Craster is a small fishing village not a lot going on, but great pub (The Jolly Fisherman) serving good quality food. Turn left or right out of the village on the coastal path that offers great scenery, wild life and castles without it being too taxing on the legs. Be mindful though that at busy times the local pubs and restaurants get busy to wise to book ahead or take a packed lunch when walking to next village.

Peaceful, comfortable, clean and private. We loved it here.

Peaceful, comfortable, clean and private. We loved it here. Sitting on the decking watching the sea and the lambs was fabulous. Only a 10 minute walk to the nearest pub/restaurant, a short walk to the coastal path and friendly hosts nearby. We'll be back.

Unspoilt quiet fishing village.

Unspoilt quiet fishing village. Excellent base for walking Northumbrian coast or travelling to Holy Island, Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Cragside, all of which surpassed our expectations. Jolly Fisherman in Craster and HorseShoe Inn in Rennington offer excellent local; food and ale. Very friendly staff everywhere.

We have been to Craster for day trips but not stayed in the...

We have been to Craster for day trips but not stayed in the village previously. It is a small fishing port now mostly a tourist destination for coastal walks especially to Dunstanburgh castle (ruins - dramatic views). Most accommodation is within 2 minutes of the sea and many have a sea view which is of a rocky shoreline but super views and very atmospheric. The England coast path passes through the village so there are super walks South to Howick (visit the Hall if you can - home to Earl Grey of tea fame) or North to Dunstanburgh Castle and Newton by the sea (Ship Inn a legend in beer and food locally). There is one pub in the village, the Jolly Fisherman, which is excellent for beer and food; and is opposite the famous Robson's smoke house (for kippers etc). There are also a couple of cafes in the village and occasional buses daily if you want to plan excursions without the car. As a base for visiting all of the Northumberland coast and towns such as Alnwick, this is a lovely spot, and is much quieter than nearby towns such as Seahouses which can be a bit noisy. We have been in the summer when it has been a lot busier but this time we went off season and it was much quieter. If you want lovely coastal views, good walks with food and drink nearby, and a bit of peace and quiet, this might be for you, especially if you visit off peak season.

a perfect spot even without a beach. a place to sit and...

a perfect spot even without a beach. a place to sit and people watch. there are no shops but eh ho there is a pub and two nearby cafes. lovely walk across the tops to Dunstanburgh castle which personally i thought was overpriced. each to their own. loved it. buses every hour so easy to get round
