Situated in a quiet street just a stone’s throw from the impressive entrance to Alnwick Castle, the Cookie Jar is beautifully designed and decorated with some exceptional interior design touches throughout. The room was comfortable and included thoughtful touches such as a jar of wonderful cookies.

Not only does Alnwick have the castle and gardens but there...
Not only does Alnwick have the castle and gardens but there is so much to do around the town, especially on the coast with the Farne Islands, Holy Island, castles, harbours and restaurants.
The shops and pubs/restaurants in the town are numerous and there is a good market. We had 4 full days but will go back there again.
One tip though, we couldn't get into a restuarant or pub for a meal at 7.00pm on as Monday - so book early!

Historic town with it's layout almost attached to the castle...
Historic town with it's layout almost attached to the castle, nice to stroll around and of course most visitors will be there to visit the castle and it's gardens (& Lilidorei for the kids) but there's a small market on thursdays and saturday which is also worth giving a browse. The town's within easy driving distance to the north coast and also the pennines so could make a good base for exploring the area.
We both ate & stayed in the Oaks hotel which is just on the edge of town (about a 10minute walk into the centra of the town) and they provided good food and accommodation.
Easy to geta round the town both on foot or by car and there's plenty of car parks (only 2 of which we found to be free to use and these fill up early in the day) everywhere else requires a parking disc £1 and available in some machines in the car parks or a number of the shops sell them.

Loved Alnwick castle, gardens and poison garden.
Loved Alnwick castle, gardens and poison garden. Also had a very nice meal with excellent service at The Treehouse Restaurant, Alnwick. Loved Barter books, very nice restaurant there also. Good location for pubs, cafes and restaurants, all within walking distance
The flat was comfortable and had everything we needed. We didn't want to cook but we could have done, quite a nice kitchen layout. Comfy sofas to relax in after busy days of sightseeing. Great location and the block was clean and quiet. Alnwick is a super town with brilliant attractions such as the gardens, the second largest castle in England and Barters Books. Good shops and a market. Flat very central with own parking and near bus station
A really comfortable lodge, which was ideal for our short stay in Northumberland. A nice touch to have a pint of milk in the fridge and a few tea bags/sugar/coffee. Everything had been thought about.
Location-wise, we made the most of being in Alnwick and so close to the castle. Free parking is close by, as mentioned by others.
Location was great, right in the centre of Alnwick, the castle and grounds were little more than 10 minutes walk away.
Parking arrangements were superb with free parking in the car park of a nearby hotel literally 100 metres away.
The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need.
Everything was very clean
