Everything was excellent!!!. Host went out of her way, very friendly staff, beautiful room, very clean. We had to leave at 5am for a flight, they even did a take away breakfast for us with juice, bars, croissants, fruit. I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone - wish we could have stayed longer.

Dirleton is a beautiful village around a splendid castle,...

Dirleton is a beautiful village around a splendid castle, with lots of green space and opportunities for short and long walks. It's very accessible but quiet, just off a main road. Nearby are several excellent sandy beaches, with nearby Gullane offering a range of quality restaurants as well as a great fish & chip shop. Many fine golf courses are within a short drive.

This was a one night stay on the coldest day of the year.

This was a one night stay on the coldest day of the year. We did however walk on the beach at Gullane and visit North Berwick. Dirleton is a good centre for visiting the East Lothian beaches and golf courses. It also has a castle.

Dirleton Castle is really beautiful, an extensive ruin, with turrets, cellars, and a prison cell to visit. It has very fine gardens laid out in the Arts and Crafts style. Oddly, it doesn't look much from the road, but it is actually a major attraction - we spent about two hours there. We also used Dirleton to travel into Edinburgh, it takes over an hour on the bus, but the bus is approximately £7.50 return and it is very regular. We ate at the Castle Inn, where we also stayed - it was great.
