Modestly sized, warmly decorated, homely and comfortable. Meticulously clean, generously sized rooms. The staff were absolutely outstanding - responsive to the minutest request even though the bar and restaurant were overflowing with visitors on what must have been one of the busiest weekends of the year. Breakfast was super and promptly served. Dinner menu had a broad selection of starters, mains and deserts. Food was really good.

Fantastic stay on a working farm in a beautiful, quiet village. Lynne and David were so generous and helpful, and even agreed to make me a packed lunch at no extra cost for my continuing journey. Comfortable bed and room, perfect amenities, great location. Dacre is ideally quiet and small but well-connected by footpaths (Dalemain loop, Eamont Way) for someone like me walking through the area, and has a lovely pub with great meals. I would definitely visit Lode farm B&B again

We loved the location, peaceful during the night, but a nice cosy feel during the day. The food was excellent. We had breakfast and dinner over our three night stay and would recommend the food highly. The bedroom (No 3) had a very comfortable bed and modern bathroom, which was great.

The pub has a challenge to climb Gowbarrow Hill. We did it before breakfast and there were beautiful views from the top. There are walks from the village but a car is needed if you are going further afield in the Lake District.

Lovely location for climbing the hills to see over Ullswater and climbing down length of Aira Force waterfalls. Good position to explore the area; only 20 mins by car from Keswick and easy access to and from the South via the Kirkstone Pass Hotel itself provides good menu choice and the food is well cooked and worth the price.

The Royal Hotel is a lovely pub run by truly delightful and friendly staff. We were attending a wedding and the hotel allowed us to leave our bags and get changed in the room in the morning, and timed their cleaning around us. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay and the chef even drove us to pick up our car when we weren’t able to get a taxi. The breakfast was really good and a friend said that the dinner was fantastic too. A great place to stay!
