KazakhstanI came to this hotel for a weekend break unfortunately mu wife had a bad bug and was really ill our daughter then got the same I cannot thank the staff enough for there absolute compassion and understanding I have stayed in hotels all over the world but I genuinely have never experienced a team so caring I highly recommend this hotel and can't thank the team enough xxx

Lovely village, lively pub, good beer (Harveys) & food in bar on, friendly bar staff, comfy bed, effective shower.
Note: breakfast is from 9am (useless to business travellers). Fire door issue which meant I had to climb out of a window must have been fixed by now?
Detailed issue:
After a 05:30 start and all day workshop I was tired on arrival so neglected to ask the time of breakfast (mentioned on your website and Booking.com). Greeter mentioned if I came in after 11pm I'd need to use the key to get in via rear door.
I had a meeting in East Grinsted at 9am so came down for breakfast at about 8am. Locked grill to bar and kitchen. Rear door "push bar to open" grey handle wouldn't push down to unlock. I tried it a couple of times with the flat of my hand. I ended up climbing out of a window onto the flat roof and onto the fire escape wooden steps. Headed into town and grabbed a McDonalds before my all day meeting (not the 'Full English' I'd been looking forward to!).
Perhaps other guests are overhung tourists with a leisurely schedule who find 9am is a good time?
What if there had been a fire? What if I'd been disabled or a short 8st woman?

Forest Row itself is not the main point of interest but...
Forest Row itself is not the main point of interest but rather its proximity to the splendours of the Ashdown Forest and the various locations in the Winnie the Pooh books. Drive to Gills Lap Car Park and print off a map online of the walks to The Enchanted Place, the Heffalump Trap, the Milne/Shepherd Memorial, The North Pole etc. Pooh Sticks Bridge involves a rather longer walk. Fabulous views on the above walks.

Very close to Ashdown Forest.Beautiful walks.Very much art is going on.Winny the Poo is also located there.Very busy village hall,always something going on.Shows,exhibitions,kurses in art and health,wellbeing.

Rooms very poor, carpets need replacing, and rooms need upgrading. All common areas need upgrading in lounge area settees very worn with no support. Bar very poor no brandy or Scottish malt whisky

The food in the restaurant for dinner and breakfast was excellent.
The carpet in the hallways needs replacing especially outside our room which was on the ground floor.
Room was a good size and clean but they do need a bit of updating although please dont replace the beds as they are really comfy.
We’ve stayed here numerous times and look forward to our next visit.
Staff are very friendly so thank you.
