We have stayed at Greyfriars many times over the years and it is always excellent.Therefore it was an easy choice for my extended family and I to have our late mother's wake in one of the function rooms and to book several rooms for family members to stay over.Hannah was brilliant in organising the rooms and also the room to hold the wake.Catering was excellent and we had great service from Blake who looked after us with drinks from the bar. Also a special mention to the reception staff who are always friendly and helpful and also the staff at breakfast ( sorry I didn't catch their names)

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. Checking in was effortless, thanks to Nola - she was warm, genuine, and incredibly helpful. A real pleasure to interact with. The facility itself is beautifully maintained, with a fascinating history and lovely surroundings that make it a joy to explore and relax in. It truly felt like a dream to spend time there with my wife and daughter. Hanna (I hope I’ve got her name right) was equally helpful during check-out - always attentive and ready to assist; very kind. Room service and food were fantastic throughout our stay. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Colchester.

The staff was very friendly when I asked I could switch rooms, the front was very noisy in the first night. My second room was on the top floor on the side, much more quiet and with a balcony as a bonus! The wonderful breakfast buffet for only 8 pounds, 12 if you add a full English breakfast. It is part of The George on the opposite of the street, there you can check in and eat. Wonderful breakfast and dinner.
