We visited mid october with our dog.
We visited mid october with our dog. Pleanty to see and do and quite quiet.
Beaches were empty and allowed dogs (October onwards). We foundsome lovely cafes for breakfast and lunches which also allowed our dog to go in (No64 Ryde and The Dell). We walked the pier and went on the Hover Craft as a pleasure flight which was a first for us but worth doing!

Shame shame shame.
Shame shame shame. We were touring the IOW so stayed only one night in each hotel, by far this was the worst experience.
The room was dirty, rotten wood on façade, thick dust on headboard, the sheets didn’t fit, the mattress was so disgusting we slept on top of the bedding. The staircase was dirty, and the lovely chandelier was thick dust. The breakfast area we chose to sit in ( a lovely old map wall paper ruined by a couple of badly placed pictures) the carpet was full of what looked like icing from a cake. Big cobwebs on windows and the door to the kitchen in the bar was shocking.., oh and they had ran out of English local brown beer which was a huge disappointment to my ale loving husband.

Also note to dog owners you can take your dog on most areas of the beach

Was really great, no complaints.
Was really great, no complaints. For future travellers, I would just make sure about the Hop-on-Hop off schedule. We were fortunate that they ran summer times. If we booked one week later, we would not have been able to enjoy some of the transport.
But all in all, Ryde is a great place to visit and the bus service / Hovercroft run very well.

Ryde is a good place to base a stay on The Island because it has a decent town centre with shops for most needs, and plenty of places to eat and drink. It is also a major transport hub, with plenty of bus routes, and access to the Island Line trains, as well as 3 routes to the mainland (car ferry from Fishbourne, passenger ferry from Ryde Pier Head, and the Hovercraft from the Esplanade.)
It has lovely accessible walks along the coast from the centre of Ryde right through to Seaview to the East.
Appley beach is beautiful and great if you like to sit or play on the sand- although the tide does go out a LONG way!
Like most of The Island it is built on a hill.....

The nearest beach to the property was Appley Beach with soft white sand. When the tide is out there is a huge expanse of sand. The beach is mostly quiet and ideal for children and families.
If you want amusements they are found a short walk away next to the main Ryde town beach.

A gorgeous place that was so convenient for walking all over Ryde.
The hotel staff were so nice and happy to help. The room was spotless and really comfortable, a nice size with a good bathroom.
Breakfast was amazing! A good selection of continental and cooked breakfast with plenty of healthy options. My young granddaughter had a "kids full English" which she really enjoyed and I was surprised she managed to eat it all!

The staff were friendly as usual. Had help to get my suitcases upstairs. Always feels like meeting friends. The view of the pier and roof tops was amazing. Prices not silly as was Ryde Carnival, many other hotels had really put their prices up
