We only ate a continental breakfast for just under £20 each which is a bit steep and full cooked breakfast is £24 also expensive. The dining room is very nice, plenty of staff which probably explains the cost. The hotel is in what appears to be a very nice conservation area on a quiet street. Our room was very spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable with crisp cotton sheets and I’m sure a feather pillow - very unusual but very welcome. By the way Booking.com I’m not from America as you keep saying, I’m English.

I'd like to say that the Applewood Hotel is one of the best places to stay in Bournemouth. The owner is so kind and all staff there are friendly and helpful as well. Thank you so much for your warm welcome, and absolutely, I'll be in Applewood Hotel when I visit Bournemouth again. The hotel is so cleaning, quiet and nearby to the city center and the beach.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The team were friendly and always helpful, which made everything run smoothly. Our room was comfortable and well kept, and we were happy with the quality of the food throughout our visit. There’s a good mix of facilities too, with a pool, spa area, and a games room that kept us entertained. The bar and restaurant were nice places to unwind in the evenings. Overall, a relaxing break and good value.

Beautiful beach and surroundings.

Beautiful beach and surroundings. Great for bathing, water activities, sitting, bird watching, walking, environmental studies and wildlife conservation, cafes, beach shops, access to toilets. Pretty village with village store and village hall which has a thriving community bar and pizza menu. Lovely coastal walk to Old Harry Rocks and Swanage. Nearby Durlston Country Park, castle, art gallery, museum and observatory.

Loved taking the dogs down to walk along the beaches and having a snack at one of the cafes - Joe's Cafe on South Beach for a Cornish Pasty or the ?Sandy Pig Cafe on Middle Beach. Also walking to Old Harry Rocks. There is a bit of local history at Fort Henry from WWII which was interesting on the way down to Middle Beach. Lovely sitting out on the terrace with a glass of wine later on after a days walking. There are a couple of pubs/restaurants very close by but we didn't eat out in the evening. For walkers, there are lots of various walks, but otherwise a car is necessary to get to Swanage, Wareham or Poole via the chain ferry.

Beautiful area, very dog friendly.

Beautiful area, very dog friendly. The only tip is to be prepared for long walks and that there is only one shop in close proximity to the property. You may need to bring some basic items such as tea, bread, or something for breakfast. However, there is a dog-friendly pub opposite, which is great, and you can buy food and take it with you.

Pluses - It's well placed with plenty of free on site parking and a pleasant, easy drive through country lanes to Corfe or Swanage. It's easy to find and quiet. Breakfast was excellent. I picked it because an evening meal would be available and we've been caught out elsewhere before with everything booked up. The weather meant that eating in looked the best option but it was pricey and we should have looked at the small print re service charges and just the general costs of things as the bill was an 'ouch'. We weren't the only ones in the checking out queue with that sentiment. I'd definitely consider staying again but would eat out elsewhere in the evening and on that basis, other places that don't offer a restaurant will look competitive now.

Excellent location for the National Trust beach.

Excellent location for the National Trust beach. Short drive to Swanage, Corfe Castle and the ferry to Poole and Bournemouth. Excellent countryside location. We ate in the hotel as there's nothing in the vacinity that doesn't need a car journey.
