FAQs about hotels in Bournemouth

Sea Air and Savoir-Faire

Known for its sandy beaches and good nightlife, Bournemouth is a popular seaside resort on the Dorset coast between Poole and Christchurch.

The town is centred on the Bourne River, running downhill towards the sea by Bournemouth Pier. This pier looks back towards a promenade lined with beach huts at the foot of grassy cliffs. The promenade continues west to Poole, while a road goes east to neighbouring Boscombe, where anglers often fish from its pier. Overlooking it is a clifftop road housing some Bournemouth hotels with sea views.

Booking.com also offers hotels near the BIC – Bournemouth International Centre in the West Cliff area. This convention centre and music venue is a short walk from the Art Deco Pavilion Theatre, located next to the Lower Gardens. In this popular city park is the Bournemouth Eye, a tethered hot air balloon that offers far-reaching views.

At the park’s top end the river disappears under a large square, then emerges in the Central Gardens. Overlooking these gardens is the Victorian town hall, which used to be one of several spa hotels in Bournemouth. Opposite is a Grade I-listed church, and St Peter’s Church has the grave of Mary Shelley, author of ‘Frankenstein’.

On the outskirts of town, near 4 golf courses and the Castlepoint Shopping Centre, is Bournemouth Airport.

Really do enjoy going to Bournemouth although I have found that it is becoming a little bit rougher there over the last year or so with a lot of beggars hassling you and the over powering smell of weed everywhere and the gangs of young men hanging around in the gardens

Living locally on the Isle of Wight a trip to Bournemouth is not much hassle for us but I've noticed a huge difference in the safety aspect of the centre and the appearance of the main shopping streets where graffiti and boarded up shops and general cleanliness is very very sad to see and not what you would expect . The airshow was a disappointment this year echoed by many people and the facilities where there but sadly it lacked something and certainly didn't feel safe or family friendly. Disappointed if I'm honest at the downturn in the appearance of the centre and homeless on the streets , not a safe place in my opinion , sorry Bournemouth !!!!!

A great place to stay..a lovely old building, very well decorated and spotlessly clean. We were given a suite which was fabulous and it was great value for money. Plenty of parking spaces and just a short walk to the beachfront. We had breakfast at the sister hotel, the Derby Manor and that too was one of the best we have had. There was plenty of choice and it was all freshly cooked. It far exceeded our expectations. Definitely will stay there again when next in Bournemouth.

Great location in town centre, you’ll be just steps away from the square, beach, restaurants, cinema. I think the hotel is best suited for guests coming to Bournemouth to party. There is a nice cocktail bar and night club in the premises and it can get pretty loud (of which I was warned about beforehand). Personally I wasn’t too bothered by the noise.
