United KingdomA wonderful stay at the Wellington Arms. The Hayloft room is beautiful, quiet and unique with lounge in the roof. All the little touches are fab from a teapot with tea cosy & turn down service to great shower and lovely lighting. Service are all super efficient and extremely charming. Quick and helpful replies to all my queries prior to staying. Delicious dinner, venison pie and fab full English breakfast with quality ingredients and excellent coffee. Immaculate garden, beautiful in the morning frost. This is so much more than a pub. Many thanks to all.

I like Thatcham a lot.
I like Thatcham a lot. The town is pretty and clean, with a lot of footpaths and grassy parks. Good transport links by train and bus via Reading and Newbury. Nice shopping center near "The Broadway", with Waitrose and Costa Coffee. The Kennet and Avon Canal is nearby. If you need a base for a couple of days, I think it's a good choice.

We came here in connection with my wife's work.
We came here in connection with my wife's work. There is no other reason to visit. Its a boring, unmemorable little town, made somewhat pleasant by its leafy character and the proximity of the countryside. There is more to do in neighbouring Newbury, but it too is flawed by poor town planning, busy roads and a poor quality cultural hub. The only place I really liked was Shaw House, which is used mainly as a conference centre, so that people interested in its history have to make sure its open before visiting.

All staff were very friendly, particularly the lady who served us breakfast on Sunday morning.
This is our 2nd stay here - we sometimes attend events in Thatcham and The Swan is ideal for an overnight stay.
The breakfast was excellent. Our main meal was very good. The beer was also excellent.

The room and house were spotless, lovely location and very quiet. Views were pretty amazing. The location is excellent for Thatcham and Newbury, you don't feel like you are so close to civilisation as it was so quiet.
