The central bit of Reading was really nice, with old and new buildings juxtaposed which made for interesting architecture. It had a nice, safe and friendly feel with glimpses of it being near the countryside. The University campus was nearby and was set in a large green space.
Reading town centre is rough, getting rougher - talking social ambiance. Mass of new canalside eateries are forgettable, but Côte is an exception. Staff surprisingly professional, and food carefully thought out and sized (how fat do you want to get?).
I not been to reading over 10years. Travel from London to Reading 30 minutes on GWR. Reading made a pleasant change from London. There seem to be less fuss and rushing. The calm and ease. Riding the bus was an easy ecperience. Shopping area central andvno hassle. I like that. Alot of places to eat and things of interest to see. Museum, going for a walk by the river. Bus ride to Oxforx and other areas. A must visit again.
Reading is great for shopping, river walks and eating out. Big enough not to get bored quickly but also not too big. Excellent choice of restaurants including independents. Love the food and atmosphere at the Global Cafe.
I only went to reading club for New Year’s Eve and I go to the deaf club from time to time so I don’t really have any tips apart from never stay at Caversham Lodge it absolutely disgusting and you will be very disappointing if you stay there
Reading is ok, our visit was to see a relative rather than the town itself, which is a bit scruffy around the edges - public spaces need refurbishment and infrastructure such as footpath condition is very poor

Good location for our purposes and avoiding the noise that Town Centre venues suffer from. Staff friendly if not always that efficient. It wasn’t as good as I expected but I think we were unlucky with the maintenance issues in the room. Would we stay there again? If it was location critical, which it was in this case . . yes. Generally comfortable and to a good standard. Free and secure parking available close to the Hotel. We didn’t check out the leisure facilities but the Hotel seemed to be well equipped in this respect.

Lovely new hotel, a short journey outside Reading town centre, across from train station so very easy to get into town. The room was lovely and bright, bathroom was very modern and spacious. The whole hotel is bright and modern. The leisure facilities are fab....the pool is really luxurious with a sauna and steam room and loungers either side of the pool to relax on. The breakfast was tasty and fresh with a lot of choice. The beds are very comfortable with a choice of soft or firm pillows.
