In the heart of lively Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight, the George Hotel is an elegant 17th-century town house boasting picturesque views overlooking the harbor and good food. We had a wonderful stay at the George, a beautiful old style hotel. Every staff member we encountered was welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were given some great tips of things to see and do. We enjoyed an excellent dinner and breakfast, in the beautifully decorated dining room, overlooking the garden terrace and water. The best part was our comfy bed. Great night’s sleep. Highly recommend a stay here.

Very easy location right by the harbour and easy to find. Harbour life is clean and very well equipped. It’s a great spot for twitchers with some lovely walks. Great little eateries and pubs although we were a bit restricted with the Covid thing. A real home from home. The only thing I couldn’t find there was a pair of binoculars!

Lovely little town with great hotels, inns, restaurants and shops. Handy for sailing and boating people, but for landlubbers like me, too, with ferry from Lymington right in the town. Buses take you all over the island from the handy bus station. Lots of good walks.
Lovely little place. Great local facilities. Easy access by road to rest of island. Beautiful coastal walks and interesting local history, especially Yarmouth Castle and Fort Victoria. Stunning sunsets from the pier
Wonderful place, the pier is truly magnificent. So peaceful. Kids came crabbing and fishing. Gossips Cafe on pier and Ice Cream shop are wonderful. Small pebbly beach yet always find fossils if tide out. Great parking nearby, fab places to eat. It’s a hidden gem!
Wightlink had one ferry out of action so there was a restricted service on the day of my return. There were also strong winds and the booking office staff advised me that if they became too strong the service would be suspended.
I know it well so perhaps biased. A pretty little town with good access to the rest of the island. Good for walking, cycling, and of course sailing. Eating and drinking in Saltys is a must, an island institution.
