The village of Odcombe on the outskirts of Yeovil is beautiful and worth exploring. The church is particularly nice. Easy access to the beautiful countryside and rolling hills of South Somerset. Only a 40 minute drive to the Jurassic Coast which is amazing. Can Highly reccommend.
It was lovely and peaceful with beautiful views and close to the town centre. But eating out proved quite difficult as a lot of places were still closed due to Covid 19. I highly recommend The Green Room and The Union Brasserie for their beautiful food. I would 100% go back to both.
OK for shopping but not for eating out at the moment, too many takeaways, This hotel had no extract fans in the bathroom, it also is just for sleeping, there are no lounge facilities, just walk in the front door and up to your room. I would like a refund as your details of the property say ground floor rooms were available for us and there was none. 2 flights of stairs, no lift. Not recommended for elderly people with walking difficulties
Yeovil is one of those towns that has seen its best days and it shows. A lot of the shops are run down and there are no shortage of homeless people either. You are only really going to travel there if you have a reason to be there. If you are travelling for sightseeing or tourism then give Yeovil a miss, there are plenty of other options in the area. Sherbourne is nice. On the other hand, if you want to explore the surrounding area but get more affordable accommodation then Yeovil is a wallet friendly option. The Sugar Cane Chinese restaurant is very good too.
Made to feel welcome, excellent quality food at reasonable price, homely feel, excellent breakfast menu... furnishings a bit dishevelled and no toilet brush but these are minor things and did not impact on the quality of the stay.. will definitely book again 😁👍
I don't really want to write a review of Yeovil; it's not really a tourist destination such as Bath or Wells, etc. However, it has some historic attractions. I know Yeovil pretty well. The garden square around the church has been beautifully created with exotic plants recently which add to its attraction alongside of its old trees. A good place to enjoy peace, either on one of the park benches or outdoor seating of cafes. On the other hand - a place of failed modern design (sadly, so common) is the nearby Quedam Centre, a place with quedamn-all to recommend it, especially after shops closed - an utterly sterile ghost town devoted to commerce, and therefore lacking in anything to benefit civic life and the finer feelings of what a town should be for its people. People in the past had more sense - imagine that.
