The hotel is located in a quiet valley, close to the start of Samaria Gorge. The staff is very welcoming, the breakfast perfect for the morning hike and they offer a free shuttle service to the gorge entrance. Peaceful stay, would recommend!

The holiday apartment has a great location for hiking trips and a wonderful view in the evening. The kitchen is well equipped for a self sustained stay. The host Wanda was amazing. Location is fantastic with views of the White Mountains, and the best sunsets and sunrises. The apartment was very beautiful, with hand painted furnishings (by our talented host) and art to enjoy. Our hosts were lovely and being there at the height of the growing season, they generously supplied us with tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden, to supplement the basic ingredients provided in the kitchenette (oil, salt, pepper, tea, coffee, sugar, vinegar). There's a washing machine on the terrace, and everything dries in no time. The gorgeous terrace was the main reason we booked and it did not disappoint; there were comfortable shaded areas for lounging, and even cats to play with. Chania is about 30 minutes' drive, with a street market on Thursday and Saturday - go early! The nearest beaches are about 30 minutes' drive as well. Do check out the local winery and the botanical gardens; both excellent for a tour and lunch. We hope to visit again.

Very nice villa in a great location: top of the mountain in the lovely village of Lákkoi. The views are stunning, mountain air is refreshing, and the balcony is a great place for a morning coffee or evening drink. Sofia is very kind, and is there to make sure your stay is comfortable. We strolled around the village and enjoyed one of the three tavernas. Unfortunately we didn't have time to explore the other two. The people were very friendly.

Great plain, dramatically encircled by mountains, above the Samaria Gorge in southwest Crete. Perfect for walkers with many routes roundabout, including up into the Lefka Ori, or White Mountains. Very rural, with the tinkle of sheep bells ringing out perpetually in the air. Life up here is a bit more real than down on the coast. A small selection of hotels, all, I imagine, of the same high standard.

Most importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Most importantly the staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help with planning our walk on the Samaria gorge hike and made us feel welcome. We stayed just 2 nights - before the walk and after - which I highly recommend doing. The rooms were so dark and quite and had very comfortable beds so we rested very well. Also, we had to change our dates of the booking, which they did for us without any cost or complication - which was a big plus. Definitely recommend it as a great place to stay in that area.
