Overlooking the Wild Atlantic Way route, Dunmanus Cottage West Cork is close to Bantry, Durrus and the Sheep's Head Way walking route. Very good explanations provided by owner beforehand. Brilliant welcome from Daisy the caretaker on arrival, with additional info sent by text. Spacious and comfortable house. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. Great base to explore Sheep's Head and Mizen Head peninsulas. Efficient and easy-to-programme heating system. Very good wifi. We felt very safe from a Covid perspective.

Set amid 30 acres of landscaped gardens, The Westlodge Hotel is situated just on the edge of Bantry town, overlooking Bantry Bay, in West Cork. Breakfast was lovely, all dietary restrictions for our party were catered for to a satisfactory level. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable.
Durrus is a central location for days of car touring from Ballydehob, Schull, Goleen, Crookhaven, BarleyCove & The Mizen. Or exploring out to Sheep's Head Lighthouse and walking the many walking routes on the peninsulas. Only a few minutes drive to town of Bantry and its restaurants many tourist attractions. And Durrus is only half an hour's drive from Glengarriff via Bantry and Ballylickey along the exquisite sheltered coastal road west. Durrus is very small. Have to recommend Anna Langrish's Gallery and Cafe in nearby Ahakista. Lovely coffee and cakes in Goleen. Didn't have time to eat as we did so much sightseeing.
Durrus doesn't have the attractions of bigger towns like Bantry and hasn't worked on its tourism potential as thoroughly as many other little West Cork villages but it has a couple of good pubs and a very good little village shop (Ryans), friendly people, and is the perfect location for accessing the peninsulas of west cork
Durrus is a beautiful sacred place we were just staying overnight for our anniversary we stayed in Ballycommane House and gardens and a better place you will not find We went to Blair’s Cove restaurant and I have travelled to lots of places at home and abroad and the meal here was the best I ever had Top marks indeed
Due to storm Ophelia our vacation to Tenerife was cancelled as we waited at the airport with all flights full for two weeks ending our annual trip to the sun but rather than not have a break we decided to remain home and go to the South West. For me Durrus was the icing on the cake as our host Ingolf was absolutely wonderful with nothing being too much and from the moment of our arrival his warm welcome made us immediately feel at home. I could wax lyrical about his hospitality but enough to know that we cannot wait to return and the ‘sun’ has now taken second place in our plans. Thank you Ingot for a very special visit.
Loved the scenery and thought the local people were lovely. It was a good place to base oneself as a spring board to the whole area. Although I am unable to physically participate in the walking and hiking aspects of what was on offer in Durrus I could see what a great place it was for all those things. However, it did not detract from the beauty, tranquility and atmosphere of the area and we had a lovely time.
A small but pretty village by the water, with a couple of pubs and restaurants. It's a quiet area in lovely scenery, great for touring the wild rocky coastline by car. Great for nature lovers, photography, walking etc.
