It's good for one day stopover. You could visit Surya Sen park or Mahananda Sightseeing and chill there in the evening. ISCON temple will disappoint you unless you are a devotee. If you are a shopaholic, Hong Kong Market is a place to be. Baishaki Mela can be fun too.

From what i have heard, Siliguri is the the stop for proceding towards Gangtok,, Darjeeling and NOrth East Places. It is quite a town with all the modern facilities. You can stay here for a day or two and just roam about the places. OLA cabs are availabale though my exp with them was not good.
