Situated in Hallormsstaður, Mjóanes accommodation has a shared lounge, a garden and barbecue facilities. Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a children's playground. This place is amazing. It's in the forest with view to the lake and has a hot pot, sauna, pool table, piano, guitar etc. There's a toilet in the cottage and even a sofa. The shared bathroom and kitchen are very clean and fully equiped. Plus there are a lot of spices, a coofee machine and granola, noodles etc free to use. The owner even baked fresh bread for us and gave us milk in the morning. One of the best accommodations we had in Iceland. Stay there for 2 nights!

This family-owned, eastern Iceland property is located on Route 95, about 17 km from the town of Egilsstadir. It offers cottage and guest room accommodation with views of Sandfell Mountain. The cottages are about 15 km south from Egilsstadir and easy to find. The hosts live in a house close to the cottages. They were very friendly and helpful. There was some mix up with our reservation, but Valdis resolved it in our favor and in was perfect, as the weather wasn't that good and we had to stay more inside than we thought. The cabin has a small kitchen with a fridge and a cooktop (everything working fine), a table for four and just beside it a double bed and a bunk bed. The bathroom was clean and hot water worked fine. There was also a BBQ cart outside, but the weather wouldn't allow us to use it.
Located on a farm in Vallanes, these cottages include a kitchenette and views of the river and mountains. Egilsstadir Airport.Airport is a 20-minute drive away. This was probably the nicest spot in out Iceland trip. The huts are super cozy and have everything you need. Clean bathroom and small kitchen with basic equipment for simple meals. It was clean and the beds were very comfy. Really what we needed after a long drive and hike day.
Set on an organic farm, Móðir Jörð Organic B&B in Vallanes offers accommodation in Vallanes. Free private parking is available on site. We stayed in a beautiful cabin on the property. It was very relaxing. The restaurant was delicious. We would definitely stay again.
Surrounded by nature, this guesthouse is within 10 minutes drive of Egilsstadir and Lagarfljot River. Rooms have access to a shared lounge and free hot drinks at all times. Really calm and beautiful location, with a great view of the surrounding forest. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Nice social area with couches and armchairs.
The Hallormsstaður area is on a beautiful lake with the largest forest in Iceland nearby. Several significant waterfalls, including the 420 ft. Hengifoss, are minutes away by car. And yet the area is just 15 minutes from Egilstaðir and all its city amenities. Really an ideal location for exploring Eastern Iceland!
Undoubtedly, this was the best hotel we stayed in during our trip. It is situated in a secluded spot, surrounded by beautiful scenery, trees and lakes. There is ample parking space. The hotel's interior is well designed. The receptionist was more than helpful, explaining to us the hotel facilities and also showed us how to use a particular website about the Northern Lights. The room was quite spacious, cosy and comfortable, equipped with TV, coffee and tea, comfortable bed, en-suite bathroom and space for luggage. Luckily we managed to book the indoor hot bath and sauna for 1 hour (at an extra charge) and it was really a great experience! There is also an outdoor (free) hot tub which can be used till late. There, we were lucky that the night sky was clear and managed to see some Northern Lights. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. A small petrol station is close by, where we managed to wash our car before leaving.
We had to book at the last minute when our other hotel had a plumbing issue and weren't picky. The hotel was clean and comfortable with great beds. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was great. We didn't get a chance to try out the hottub and the spa, but that is an added bonus for anyone who has the time. Also there are some walking trails directly off the property to get a morning or evening walk in. The staff accidentally charged us twice for the room but resolved it immediately when we brought it to their attention.
This home was located in a beautiful setting with views of the lake, in the national forest. It was spacious, comfortable, and cozy, with a full kitchen, a living space, and comfortable beds. We loved our stay here and wished we could have made it longer--lots of hiking in the area.
I had a very nice stay here. The cottage was awesome and owner very friendly. The area with Hallormsstaður forest nearby is beautiful.
