Featuring ski-to-door access, Country House Tokastaðir offers accommodation in Egilsstadir. The accommodation features a spa bath. The place is a private house with two extra rooms, a small and a large one. So, contact with the host is unavoidable. This means that you actually get to know the host as much as you can given that he is usually around. For some people, this is not what they may want. For us, this made the experience amazing. Our stay in this place was very good because this is one of the rare occasions where you can speak and learn from a local. He was also very helpful and attentive (e.g., checking the road conditions for us, caring about us during the snow storm). The dog was supercute and friendly, we loved him too!! Taken together, this place made our stay in Eggilstadir quite unique. 100% recommendable!! For sure, we will stay there again if we ever come back to Eggilstadir.
Offering mountain views, Ásgeirsstaðir Holiday Homes in Ásgeirsstaðir provides accommodation and barbecue facilities. Complimentary WiFi is provided. The best accomodation we have had in Iceland. Comfort, clean, with quality beds.
Colorful little fishing village Nice stop when driving the ringroad Fully equipped grocery store Nice selection of restaurants for such a small village The view as you drive down towards the town and the waterfalls as you get back on the ringroad
Enjoy the beautiful scenery of fjords and glaciers. The weather conditions changed rapidly, one minute sunshine and the road was dry and driving was like a breeze. Within minutes we were driving through icy road and It was snowing. Hence caution to those who want to drive through the mountain roads - particularly drivers who have no prior experience driving in such icy conditions.
We loved the village and the drive down from the Ring Road yesterday since the weather was good. But the drive back up and over the mountain today was treacherous due to bad road and weather conditions. We barely made it. So we highly recommend a 4 wheel drive with studded snow tires for mid September and later. The town itself is pretty and walkable, and surrounded by mountains.
Nice spot at the end of a short, difficult mountain drive. A dangerous road, especially if it is wet, foggy or icy. There was a car on its roof off the side of the road when we were returning to the Ring Road that wasn’t there two days before.
Absolutely love this quaint town. You can’t help but slow down, enjoy the sound of the waterfall & scenery. Driving down the mountain into town is breathtaking. There isn’t much to do in this town but that’s the point of going there. Would love to go back some day.
Darling little town on the fjord. Good walking trails, nice restaurants and friendly locals. Loved the art vibe. Very comfortable tiny town. Gorgeous setting. Best when the Denmark ferry is not there. The drive there was incredible with the pass covered with snow. Loved our stay.

The bathroom was the biggest we have seen during our trip. The room was also quite spacious for Iceland standards. The shared kitchen was well equipped. Nice decoration in the room. The village was pleasant and calm and had some nice hiking opportunities to see the numerous waterfalls.

This place is absolutely lovely. We booked a room with a private bathroom, so I can't say anything about the shared facilities. But the place is cute, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are very nice. This was my favorite stay in Iceland!
