Serenity. We were in winter, so there were almost no tourists. The room was spacious and warm - good heating. It was clean. Breakfasts were excelent. The place is located close to the last parking lot in Eriche so you have to drive all around the city to get to it. The building itself is historical, you almost feel presence of monks in it.

Not only did I have a wonderful stay at Casa Cattauro, but I truly feel fortunate to have been able to spend some time in such a beautiful property. The property is very comfortable and spotlessly clean, with authentic decoration and thoughtful touches that made it feel like a home away from home even for such a short stay. Not to mention fairytale-like views and a peaceful atmosphere! The breakfast was delicious and the location is perfect for exploring the cobbled streets of Erice. My host Francesca was extremely attentive, she welcomed me with warmth and kindness and I’ll forever be grateful! A bonus for me was the presence of a very sweet black cat who kept me company on the terrace - it made the whole experience even more special. I couldn’t recommend it enough, I hope I’ll have a chance to return one day!

the place is awesome. Couldn't have a better location (30 m away from Porta Trapani which is the main entrance to Erice). It is spotless clean, the owners are super nice, the room is really spacious, and toiletries are provided. Great place to stay at.

Erice is an ancient village located at the top of a hill...

Erice is an ancient village located at the top of a hill overlooking Trapani with superb views all around. It is possible to drive up the long winding road or take a bus up the well surfaced and not narrow road. All parking is on the outskirts of the village at a cost. Do not try to drive through the very narrow, cobbled streets, you will have problems. It is possible to take the cable car to Erice from Trapani, a good choice if you are just visiting for the day. You can walk up to Erice from Trapani from NEAR the cable car station but not FROM the cable car station, initially on a steep, tarmac road leading to a dusty, gritty, track but it isn't well signed and if you decide instead to walk up the road it is a long way, around 12 km. The village itself is very interesting and it is possible to walk a complete circuit. All the streets are narrow, cobbled and uneven. There is a profusion of gift shops, very many selling the same ceramic souvenirs etc. There are many restaurants and cafes but be aware a majority of them close later in the afternoon when the village becomes almost empty so if you are staying overnight the few that are open can be busy. There are a good number of places to stay but I would recommend highly a booking is made in advance. Enjoy a visit.

The view of the plain to the southeast, of Trapani, its famed salt flats, and of the sea was spectacular, the restaurant breakfasts and dinners excellent, the room comfortable and clean. Most of all, Antonio, the manager, was a really great and helpful person. His service to drive us and our luggage up from the parking lot (with an orienting sight-seeing narrative thrown in!) and around the narrow streets to the hotel, park our car and then bring us back to it after our stay was invaluable. We wish we could have stayed longer.

High above the water sits Erice.

High above the water sits Erice. The hill town is very old and well preserved. The churches are well worth visiting. It is only crowded during the day but in the evening all the buses are gone and the town is very quiet.

Erice is a very charming town, and worth a visit, but only...

Erice is a very charming town, and worth a visit, but only if you're able to walk steep hills and cobblestones. Maria Grammatico's pastry shop was a highlight for us, as was just walking around the town. Do be sure to 1) download EasyPark or a similar parking-pay app before you go, and if you stay in one of the hotels overnight, be sure to also download WhatsApp as most of the smaller Italian hotels use that to communicate. All the food we had was great; prices were reasonable; not a lot of tourists, but even in early May, there were some. We took a taxi up, which was pricer than the cable car, but I don't like heights!

Very old town with many things to see.

Very old town with many things to see. Many restaurants for all kinds of food. Since Erice is high up in the mountains, there are few level areas. Great for keeping in shape! You cannot get lost. It's a small town. Evenings get cooler, so bring a jacket if you plan to eat on a terrace.

The community has a nice offer for 12 Euro to enter all churches and monuments in the village. It can easily keep you busy and running around for a day in the village. A bus from/to the village from Trapani is 2,90 Euro and takes about 45 min. The Funivia (cable car is 6,50 Euro and takes about 20 min + the local AST 21 or 23 bus to take you there for 1,40 Euro). I saved one cable car ride for the last evening just as an experience enjoying the sunset views and using it as a way to reach the village late. The last bus from Trapani is 17.30 the last cable car around 20.00.

Location perfect, free parking and parking available, close breakfast opportunities (Sapori di Badia recommended). Cathedral, Frederico Bell Tower, Castello and his vicinity with picturesque views 270 degree around Mount Erice (must see experience), Pepoli Tower, museum, gastronomy, wines, pastries...and last but not least great hospitality of the people of Erice.

We were greated by the friendly host Claudio who gave us lots of recommendations for restaurants not too far away. The Studio had everything we needed including coffee and sugar for our first cup of coffee in Sicily. Nice private outdoor space even though we preferred to stay inside due to cold weather in April. The heatpump was helpful.

The bedrooms were comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. The food at the restaurant was outstanding and reasonably priced for excellent food. The breakfast was included in the price and was a lovely buffet with good coffee. We appreciated being able to leave our luggage at the hotel for a few hours after we had checked out.

The hotel is old but the view from the room is amazing. Since Erice is a small place it doesn't matter where will you stay in accordance to the center. Everything is in a short distance. The hotel has enough parking space near the hotel.
