I wouldn't recommend Macugnaga for a summer stay at the foot...

I wouldn't recommend Macugnaga for a summer stay at the foot of the Monte Rosa. The valley is very narrow and rainy. Hikes are limited. On a cloudy day, the place can be slightly sinister. If you wish to see the Monte Rosa in all its glory, rather go to the Ayas or Gressoney valleys or to Zermatt on the Swiss side.

It was perfect tor family.

It was perfect tor family. They have nice small streets to wonder around, a place where you can drink or fill your water bottle with fresh water, some small parks, nice water falls, donkeys. We had a nice walk everyday in a nice cool weather. We had a lunch at one of the restaurants at the central plaza, and it was also delicious. Highly recommended.

Hotel Dufour is in the centre of the village, within easy walking distance of bars, restaurants, shops, and ski slopes. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the buffet-style breakfast provided everything we needed for our activity-based holiday. We were able to park in a small space adjacent to the hotel. In four days we made only one excursion by car.
