Beautiful alpine locality.
Beautiful alpine locality. Not over commercialised compared to other ski resorts - this is still a town, with mainly local tourists.
Proximity and choice of walking trails was excellent. Good one day walks to Monte Moro and Rifugo Zamponi Zappa, the lake and glaciers.

I wouldn't recommend Macugnaga for a summer stay at the foot...
I wouldn't recommend Macugnaga for a summer stay at the foot of the Monte Rosa. The valley is very narrow and rainy. Hikes are limited. On a cloudy day, the place can be slightly sinister. If you wish to see the Monte Rosa in all its glory, rather go to the Ayas or Gressoney valleys or to Zermatt on the Swiss side.

The location was perfect (20 min from Macugnaga, options for a walk along the Anza river, nice Walser village for a stroll in the evening). Very clean, very nice staff. Good restaurant. The bed was comfortable, the pillow was firm and better than in many places.

Very pleasant and centrally located hotel. Friendly helpful staff. Great buffet breakfast. We were lucky to get an on- site parking space (6 Euros/ night). Our room had a balcony and mountain view.
