Across the road is huge Prato della Valle, a green square with a canal lined by 78 statues, and home to a Saturday market. Cobbled, porticoed streets lead to the finely-crafted Gran Loggia and clock tower.
Every church has incredible décor, but the most famous is Saint Anthony of Padua, boasting the bones of the saint, an impressive 7 cupolas and 4 cloisters. The square in front has a statue by Donatello. Padua Cathedral's simple exterior houses amazing frescoes inside the baptistery by Giotto, creator of the jewel in Padua’s crown – the Scrovegni Chapel. His 14th century frescoes there have been meticulously restored to be as vibrant as the day they were painted.
