Opinion seems to be varied about Pisa. We wanted a town with something to see and an airport so no onward travel. We had 3.5 days. Mostly very good weather. We spent a day in Lucca which is just a short ride away and the rest of the time exploring Pisa. We did this by train as its quick and there is effectively a shuttle, they also run the double decker trains which are always fun to go on. We bought a ticket for all buildings in the Piazza dei Miracoli , the only thing that is timed is the Tower and in November we were able to buy a ticket and climb up right away. We spend the next afternoon doing the buildings that were open (one shut for renovation) and walked round part of the walls. The ticket is valid for a year but its only one entry. We took things slowly and wandered the streets on both sides of the River. Ate ice cream and doughnuts and tried a couple of local specialities. Relaxed and pleasant stay. If you just want to tick things off your bucket list you can do Pisa in a day,
The Leaning Tower visit was the highlight of the trip an iconic must see if you like history. A good time to visit not too many tourists and weather was pretty good for November. Plenty of places to eat. Try other Italian food apart from pizza.
We used Pisa to hub and spoke to other areas, traveling by train. This worked perfectly, as we could unpack for 6 nights, feeling our belongings were safe and secure. Pisa has a wonderful history, but the location is perfect to enjoy other historical sights within a short train ride. We combined Pisa with Lucca, Cinque Terre, Montecatini.
Pisa you honestly only need a day. The leaning tower is lovely but greatly overpriced for what you get. We had paid for a tour 54 pounds and they were renovating so we were not allowed in, no refund was given!!!
Pisa is very rundown. That said the Learning tower of Pisa, is still worth the visit. The airport is very close to the town, you can walk to the centre. There are some cafes, restaurants worth visiting, look at reviews for food places of Trip A. I recommmend using the trains to visit Florence e.t.c Just remember after you buy the ticket, it must be validated by putting it in a machine that punches a hole and prints confirmation. Pisa has big mosqitoes take a plug in. If I come again, I would only do a day trip, maybe visit a restuarant. Before you book a hotel, see if you can look at the neighbourhood on Google maps. Once again it's a really run down town, it's not Florence
We only stayed one overnight in Pisa. We didn't go up the Leaning Tower. We walked around it and around the church and other buildings and took photos. You can walk along the city walls for 5 euro. We were going to do this but unfortunately there was thunder and rain so we didn't.
We had one day and night in Pisa ahead of flying home after 2 weeks in Italy. It’s fair to say that everything outdid our expectations. The city was lovey. A real university vibe with all sorts of lively squares for a drink / food. All very compact and walkable and airport v close The hotel was lovely. Family owned on a quiet street but right in the old town. Good sized room which was quiet with very comfortable bed and excellent air conditioning. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good and good value
This was a great room for a budget one night stay in Pisa. The room was basic but had everything we needed for one night and reflected the price we paid. The room was spotlessly clean and basic toiletries were provided. There was no air conditioning but the ceiling fan did the job just fine. The staff were so friendly and even booked a taxi for us for our early trip back to the airport. The location is probably the best you will get in Pisa, as hotel is literally a 3 minute stroll away from the leaning tower.
During our stay at Hotel Verdi, we were always greeted at reception by the most loveliest people. We would like to give a special mention to Veronica, who is a new worker at the Hotel, and was extremely helpful and kind, she must be a pleasure to work with! This hotel is a great option when on a budget, you have everything you need, the rooms are clean, there is Wi-Fi, a safe, a hairdryer and most importantly it is in the city centre and close to the tower of Pisa.
I drove in from Genoa, it was easy to find, very straightforward drive in unlike many places we e been. Elio was super helpful. Explained where to go and how to get there with map. It’s 10/15 minute walk from Leaning tower. The room was very nice and the bathroom was the best we have experienced in Italy this holiday (6 different hotels) There were cold drinks in a fridge available to purchase at any time. Pisa is great - even better than I experienced
The Location was perfect, only 2 min walk to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The host was very friendly and we could leave our luggage there after the check out. What can I say for the room, just great. The room was big enough, very comfortable bed with clean sheets. We had enough towels. The bathroom was big too. The room has air conditioning, it was the best solution for the hot days in Italy. I really recommend this place. It extended my expectactions.
Autenthic Italy city center accommodation experience, 10 min walking from Pisa Centrale, 25 min walking from Airport. I would summarize by saying that we felt just like home. Exceptionally clean, one of the most comfortable beds. The breakfast ia very rich, freshly prepared and diversified by choice. The provolone cheese is something to remember. Flavia is a wonderful host, pleasant to talk with, very careful and we thank her for everything.
This hotel is close to the train station, so if you wish to visit other cities in Italy, it's a perfect location to walk to the train station and get easily to any other city in Italy. We went from here to Florence and Siena. Also walking distance to the attractions around the Tower of Pisa. The walk was about 1 KM and totally flat (no hills) all the way to the Tower.
Absolutely terrific hotel for a romantic night in Pisa. Rather than going directly from Pisa airport to Florence, we stayed a night in Pisa and took the train on the following day. Staying here was amazing in terms of location and comfort. You should also eat at the pizzeria in front of the hotel
This hotel had the best location in all of Pisa. You could see the leaning tower a block and a half a way from our balcony. Proximity enabled us to visit the tower area in multiple light and also before and after the crowds arrived and departed. It is also very inexpensive.
The hotel is in the perfect and best possible location in Pisa 🙂 Just 30 seconds from Pisa Leaning Tower 🗼 Staff is awasom. They gifted us a nice bottle of wine for one small inconvenience caused by them which was actually not causing any immediate impact on our stay !
We really appreciated how clean was the room, that we had everything we needed (fresh towels, hairdryer, tea) and also how close the hotel is to the Pisa Tower and the old city. Will definitely recommend this hotel as it is a great value for money.
Pisa
Exactly what we needed. Facilities were great. Hosts were very accommodating. We stayed the first night on arriving in Pisa and the last night of before we left Pisa. We’d travelled through Italy. The lady even took us to the airport. Fabulous
Location is a few minutes from pisa Station and 25 minutes walk to the airport. The centre is also in walking distance. Room has a lot of space. Breakfast was provided by the bar next to the hotel which was good.
The hotel is located right next to the Leaning Tower of Pisa which was so ideal! The man at the front desk was so lovely and helped us with directions to the city centre at midnight when we checked in.
Pisa
We wanted a hotel near Airport so that we could walk to airport for our 6 am flight. This hotel is just 200m away from airport and just took 5 mins. Served its main purpose of booking this hotel.
Pisa
Very hospitable and friendly and helpful we stayed one night at the end of our visit to Italy and it was perfect as walking distance to the airport.
Excellent location near the leaning tower of Pisa and for restaurants and shopping. Wonderful hotel staff and nice rooms.
