It was straight out of dreams. Absolutely amazing property. Very clean , quite spacious . Kitchen was perfectly stocked with all the utensils to prepare dishes.Resort staff was very helpful Best part just 5 min walk from station . View is mesmerising from all the rooms. Just perfect .

Everything was just fine. The hotel has a spa bath at 2 floors, but they also offered us free access to onsen with many bath and sauna witch just over the street. You can reach the Keya beach, 12 minutes by car. Very clean room with Netflix tv. I'm planning to come again.

Itoshima is a quiet beachside community.

Itoshima is a quiet beachside community. If you like getting off the beaten track you may like this. We visited Shiraito Falls - loved the waterfalls, nature and campfire on a cooler day; and Natty Dread - a quirky, creative restaurant serving up the best burgers and overlooking the bay.

It’s a very lovely place with nice beaches and sea views . The drive along the coast is very nice . The highlight of the place is, of course , the Couple Rocks and the lovely quaint cafes along the coast .

I loved being the only non-Asian (some Chinese tourists, so...

I loved being the only non-Asian (some Chinese tourists, so we were the only gaikokujins) while in the area. The beaches are nice, but not exceptional. The white torii and Sakurai Futamigaura’s Couple Stones were well worth the travel. We went in July, so many places were closed in Itoshima. The famous palm tree swing is somewhat close to the torii and stones. We went on a wild goose chase to two beaches far from the right beach! Fukae Beach no longer squeaks when you walk on it (not as clean as it used to be). Local people are friendly (Fukae Beach info centre Yoko-san drove us to a train station as walking to the beach was a little dangerous! Narrow, busy road.)

The nigiri sushi at Ito Saisai, Japan's number one direct...

The nigiri sushi at Ito Saisai, Japan's number one direct sales store, was delicious. I wanted to try other ingredients as well. The Ito no Kuni History Museum is a must-visit. The 46.5cm diameter bronze mirror is a unique masterpiece. Hirabaru Ruins Park is also worth a visit. While the focus tends to be on food and leisure, I think Itoshima's charm lies in its opportunity to experience the dawn of Japan. Raizan Sennyoji Temple has the charm of an ancient temple, and you can immerse yourself in a relaxing and spiritually refreshing moment. I can confidently recommend the Glocal Hotel Itoshima.

Since it was close to the station, I looked for a restaurant...

Since it was close to the station, I looked for a restaurant, but there was no place within walking distance where I could use my travel coupon. The parking fee at the photogenic spot was too expensive so I didn't go. I went to the hotel's restaurant, Taiyo no Sara, for a lunch buffet, and the atmosphere was great and all the food was delicious. Itoshima vegetables are delicious!! Itoshima Saisai, a direct sales store selling a variety of fish, vegetables, sweets, and more, was bustling with people lining up before opening even on a weekday. It was so cheap I ended up buying too much lol

The biggest problem was that my purpose and location didn't match. My long-term stay was for the purpose of mentally unwinding from the self-isolation lifestyle during COVID-19 and sketching. The website showed impeccable facilities and a great location, but the cafe was closed due to COVID-19, and since I'd signed up for a long-term stay at a low price, I was stressed about finding a place to eat. First, for breakfast, I stocked up on bread at the bakery the day before. There were only two places that opened at 11:00. I wanted to avoid ramen, so I went to a steakhouse every day, but I got bored of it after a day. I went to Chikuzen-Maebara to eat, and bought food for the evening and the next morning. It was so hot that I only had two hours to sketch, which was my main purpose. When I got back to my room, there was no TV. I just spent the time looking at my smartphone. It was a learning experience.
