If you’re looking for an exceptional traditional Japanese guesthouse, look no further. SOLA was by far the best place we stayed in Japan, and the highlight of our time on the Kumano Kodo. Mandy, had opened the guesthouse only 1 week prior to our stay, but she’s so organized you’d never know. Upon our arrival, she asked if we wanted to go to an onsen near by, which after a long day of hiking was a must. She drove us there herself and then helped us get checked in. That evening she made us Shabu Shabu for dinner, with many of the ingredients coming from her own garden! The house is maybe a 5 min walk to the bus station and very conveniently located for anyone doing the Kumano Kodo. Mandy is the real highlight of the experience though. She is so gracious and kind, we felt like family. She’s also an acupuncturist, which we didn’t have time to experience but wish we had. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Thank you for an incredible stay, Mandy!

Not only is the place nice, but the hospitality is beyond expectation! Even though the house is a bit far from the village center, but the Obā-san offers pickup for free. She even drove us to the Onsen and to the trail we are aiming to go after checking out. Dinner and breakfast options are also available here, and it was delicious. She thoughtfully explains each dish, and even adjusted the ingredients to accommodate our dietary restrictions. Overall, it was a wonderful stay. Highly recommended! 😁

Good location to biggest inari . Close to gas station, bus cafe, shop and restaurant. Very warm welcome town. Charming star view at night . All rooms are comfortable. Kitchen, laundry, refrigerator, beer and ice . Very good place to stay.

The location is so beautiful. It overlooks the river and is really quiet. The rooms themselves were comfortable and clean. Everything looked new and the owner was extremely helpful.

The owner is the soul of hospitality. The place is spotless and the bed is the most comfortable I’ve slept in so far while walking the Kumano Kodo. Plus, right across the street of a real supermarket so great location.
