Featuring hot spring baths that use natural hot water flowing directly from the source, which is neither heated nor recycled, Oushuku Onsen Choeikan is a ryokan in Shizukuishi. Friendly and helpful staff. I asked how to access Hachimantai and they helped me to get information so it made me feel appreciated!
Hotel Uguisu is located in Shizukuishi, within 20 km of Koiwai Farm and 25 km of Shizukuishi. Outstanding meals. Beautiful dinner served in our room Lots of dishes with a wide variety of fish. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast served in a large room. Both meals were outstanding. The baths were awesome. The indoor bath was a little hot but the outdoor was perfect. The snow was falling and the bath was wonderful. The staff was super nice and seem excited to have foreign guests.
Onsen Minshuku Sakaeya offers accommodation in Shizukuishi. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and free private parking is available on site. The rooms are fitted with a flat-screen TV. The Minshuku is hidden behind a big hotel, it was quite a bit hard to find first time. The owner was very nice, although she doesn't speak English but her son helped her. The onsen was nice but the facility inside wasn't, (I don't use soap for shower). I booked 2 single rooms, the room for my friend, it had toilet but my room hadn't. Dinner was nice it costs 2500yen but breakfast was so so and costs 1000yen (not a good value)
Very quiet and scenic town with lovely hills and mountains at the fringe. A relatively short and easy drive to busier areas like Morioka. The food was amazing and reasonably priced and the people were kind and hospitable. We ate a yakiniku restaurant called Hige. Fantastic Wagyu!
