Our stay was fantastic. The property is conveniently located about a 5-minute drive from the ski slopes, which made getting to the mountain very easy. A special mention must go to our host, Junji-san. His hospitality truly made the stay exceptional. He kindly offered to drive us to and from the ski slopes every day and was always available to answer any questions we had. When we arrived at Appi Kogen Station late in the evening (around 9pm+), he personally picked us up, which we really appreciated after a long journey. Junji-san also helped arrange the shipping of our snowboards to the airport, which made our departure much more convenient. On one of the nights we had dinner at the property, and it was absolutely amazing. A big thank you to Junji-san and the staff for their warm hospitality and for making our trip so enjoyable and memorable. We would definitely love to stay here again.

This is a magnificent hotel at a magnificent location. The views from the lobby are breathtaking, which makes for an impressive arrival. As the hotel doesn't come cheap, we did not book a room with ocean view, so we were suprised that even from the other side of the hotel the ocean was still visible from our room. We had a beautiful, large room with a separate (and comfortabel) sitting area. The futons were very comfortable. The public baths in the hotel are very beautiful. As we used them quite late, we both had the men's and women's bath to ourselves. There's a wonderful outdoor bath (and an indoor bath too), really very beautiful. Jodogahama Beach is a very short walk (less than 10 minutes) through a forested area, and the hotel provides bells to warn off any bears (which seemed a bit excessive to us, but perhaps it's really necessary). The beach is quite beautiful, but also very rocky (it's not a sandy beach at all). Dinner was buffet-style, but of high quality. We loved the fact that there were lots of staff members available to explain all available dishes, and sushi was made freshly on the spot. Breakfast too was very extensive and good.

This hotel is awesome if you are a keen skiier or snowboarder, we had great snow on the mountain every day and loved the ski in and ski out. The buffets were really good, the rooms were spacious for Japan and the beds were comfortable. The staff were very friendly and although not all of them spoke fluent English they still helped us with our needs via translate. We were able to send our snowboards to and from the hotel via Yamato which was a saviour for lugging them around on trains and cities. We booked a corner room which was a bit more expensive then a standard room so that we could have two large windows for the view, but seeing the standard rooms over the few days we stayed there we saw that they honestly all had a great view, so next time we will probably opt to just book a standard!

Convenient location not far from the rock-splitting sakura, Morioka castle park, and within walking distance to most places we wanted to visit in Morioka. Parking available for additional 1100 yen/24hr, we had to leave our car keys at the reception as the parking space in front of the hotel is limited and the cars must be rearranged according to departure plan. Very accurately executed, kudos. We could also see Iwatesan from the window.

The amenities are great, the staff friendly, polite, and extremely accommodating. The food is outstanding - generous portions, extraordinary variety and really fresh as a lot of it is grown in the hotel garden. The location is a little out of Hiraizumi but it doesn’t matter - there’s a shuttle, and the location is serene and beautiful. Also the onsen is amazing!

Morioka is a very charming city—peaceful and not crowded, while still offering a truly local Japanese atmosphere. The food is delicious, especially the seafood, which is high quality and reasonably priced. There aren’t too many tourists, making it a great place to relax. It’s also an excellent starting point for traveling خارج the city or going on a road trip, as the surrounding areas are filled with beautiful natural attractions. It’s especially suitable for people who enjoy skiing. I visited in early March, and there was still quite a lot of snow. I’d love to go back again when there’s even more snow.

We were there at a perfect time for the cherry blossoms… so beautiful!!! The park was easy to get to. We were there around 9:30am and there were a lot of parking spaces. But by the time we left around 2pm, there were long queues everywhere. So do go early if you are driving. The park was quite big, the crowd tended to spread out so it wasn’t too bad. We were thinking of taking a boat ride, but only to find that the boats were already out of service for a few years. There were a no of food stalls there so we had lunch there. The quality of the food varied so do go around to compare before ordering anything.

It's like 3-min walk from the station, and there's a 7-11 3 m min away. Jodogahama Beach is a short ride away, and it's beautiful. I stayed through the typhoon that landed in Miyako. The owner was extremely helpful, dishing out advice and helping me cancel my next accommodation (really appreciate this since i can't speak Japanese and it's a ryokan in a small town). I met a bunch of really cool people, we managed to hang out during and after the typhoon left us, checking out local night spots ... what was a disruption to my travels turned out to be the best experience this trip. Extremely grateful, and will surely be back!

A great town.

A great town. Has become synonymous with the short lived poet and writer Miyazawa Kenji. Every corner bears signs or artistic creations inspired by his characters in his stories. The English Coast is pleasant for a walk. The town offers many museums, including those dedicated to Kenji and Nitobe Inazo (the author of The Soul of Japan). Very rich in hot springs.
