Located right in front of Iwappara Ski Resort, Sierra Resort Yuzawa offers public indoor/outdoor hot-spring baths with panoramic views of the city and mountains. Located between slopes and a lot of areas where kids can play in the snow away from the crowds.
Yuzawa Grand Hotel is within a 2-minute walk from Echigo Yuzawa Train Station and the Sake Museum. It offers 3 public baths, a massage service and free parking on site. A very short walk from the station, though you do have to go up a short slope through the carpark (difficult for those lugging bags with no wheels, like I was), the height does help give the hotel nice views for the rooms. Buffet Breakfast is served with local Japanese cuisine. There's grilled fish, (with live grill for you to re-grill the food yourself), Oden, mapo tofu, etc..; western scrambled eggs, waffles, bacon and the usual. There's an onigiri station as well. There's a Konbini right opposite, which can get crowded at meal times.
Boasting a ski-to-door access to Nakazato Snow Wood Ski Area, Hotel Angel Grandia Echigo Nakazato is located a 15-minute drive from Echigo-Yuzawa Station via a free shuttle bus. As family friendly as a resort could possibly be. Great Onsen as well.
Boasting natural hot spring baths and hot tubs, Yuzawa New Otani is located just a 5-minute walk from Yuzawa Kogen Ski Resort. Good location to the main street for food and 5 minutes walk to the station. Good sizable room for 2 person.
Hotel Yuzawa Yuzawa Denkiya provides free shuttle service to Echigo Yuzawa Station, a 5-minute drive away. It offers Japanese-style rooms with free Wi-Fi. People are wonderful, hotel has organized shuttle services to many ski resorts, rooms are so spacious... Everything is just outstanding!
Right next to NASPA Ski Garden, New Otani Hotel features hot-spring baths, an indoor pool and 7 food and beverage options. Spacious Japanese and Western rooms are offered, all with a private bathroom.... other than food every thing perfect

Sharing the premises with a large ski resort and a hot spring resort, Naebe Prince Hotel features a large number of restaurants and shops, and some bars. I love everything about the hotel! I will come back! :)

Located within a 5-minute drive away from Naeba Ski Resort, Condominium Hotel Naeba West offers rooms with Japanese-style seating areas and complimentary Wi-Fi at the lobby. So the check-in building is across the street and so are the onsens which the indoor one is open 24...
Located a few steps from Iwappara Ski Area, Hotel Chalet Yuzawa Ginsui offers 2-star accommodations in Yuzawa and features a garden, a shared lounge and ski-to-door access.
Neighboring Iwappara Ski Resort, Hotel Alpha Star features ski-to-door access, a hot spring bath and a tennis court.
We were stayed at the Naeba Prince Hotel for 4 nights. Quite a stay but who couldn’t snowboard longer if you could?! Very convenient with direct access to slopes. Prices weren’t too bad in restaurants since we are from Hawaii and used to higher prices for everything. Naeba town has many restaurants to try. We only had time to try two. The closest one-traditional Japanese (didn’t even know the name- we just peaked inside and decided) and Take, a little further walk into town. We enjoyed Take too. A more modern Izakaya. Both had great food and atmospheres. Wish I had more time to try the many restaurants I saw. Walking in a snowstorm was an extra bonus! Just do it!
Such a convenient and short ride via Shinkansen from Tokyo Station. Loved our hotel, NASPA New Ohtani, the restaurants near the train station provided reasonably priced & delicious food, convenient & free buses from the hotel & train station to the ski resorts, Gala Yuzawa was great in that it had all the clothing, equipment & facilities to make the day enjoyable.
The snow is awesome. The place is super accessible from Tokyo with the Shinkansen. There is enough facility for every snow-related activities. Expect to pay quite a lot of money for renting all equipments and accessories though.
Small town easy access to many ski resorts with very competitive offers of ski tickets and rentals. Many small dinners places in the village. It is one of the most accessible ski area from Tokyo only 1.45 minutes from Tokyo Station by JR train. The town is well know for its hot spring resources, so if not for winter sports, coming to hike the mountains and hot spring bath in the spring and fall seasons will also be enjoyable. The snow seAston is relatively short, Dec 15 to early Feb before the temperature getting to warm, and that is the peak season for the travelers.
The 3 mountain pass is fantastic. Yuzawa Kogen, Gala Yuzawa and Ishiuchi Maru yama are all accessible and easily from town. Ishiuchi Maruyama is probably our favourite mountain in Japan (we have been to Hakuba many times). The red and black powder runs were awesome at Gala as well; though a little hard to access if you don't know where you are looking. Armed with a Tokyo wide pass, Yuzawa is the most accessible snow trip available from tokyo. You also feel like you are in Japan, unlike Hakuba which is saturated with Australians. Love the place, oh, it is cheaper than Hakuba as well.
Was there end December. Nice little town for young families. Ski resorts are quite spread out. We're a family of advanced skiers and best skiing areas for us was Kagura, which is also suitable for beginners due to the wide runs. Gala was extremely crowded with narrow trails. Unfortunately, we were there a little early in the season so many resorts were not opened yet. The town has a water sprinkler system in most of the streets that pumps water from the ground to melt snow, thereby keeping the ground perpetually wet. Suggest bringing waterproof shoes or boots. If you like sake, there's a nice sake tasting store at the Echigo Yuzawa station. with a huge selection of sake. 500yen for 5 little cups of sake. Boo Sports was great for ski rental. Prices are reasonable and they pick us up from hotel to ski resorts and back.

Thank you so much Ms. Kaori for all the help and warm accommodation. The owner herself was so responsive to my querries. She helped me on how to get to the ski resort. I booked the backpackers/dormitory room yet she gave me a private room instead since I was the only one who checked in. I liked the accommodation because it was well-maintained, well-organized and clean. My experience in Yuzawa was great because of her help. The location was quite-near to Echigo-Yuzawa Station (East) Exit.

Fantastic view as it faces Mt Naeba. The breakfast is very good, a traditional Japanese breakfast. I recommend that every tourist should try the Japanese Style Breakfast. Service was excellent and the owner is very kind, attentive, hospitable and accomodative. She does not hesitate on completing your requests. Definitely would recommend friends if they don't mind a Family Style Living instead of a 5 Star Hotel. Overall, the price is very worth for the service and accommodation.

Everything about this hotel we love. This is our second time visiting. Two years in a row. That should say how much we love this hotel. The facilities may be getting old, but you can feel the genuine and heartfelt effort from the staff to service you above and beyond the top to overcome it. And the onsens/ofuros... oh how they were marvelous! The location is nicely located within a walking distance from Echigo-Yuzawa station and Yuzawa Kogen Ski Resort.

Convenient location in town. Just a few hundred metres from amenities like convenience stores and Echigo Yuzawa train station. Lots of small eateries nearby. Not really walkable from station with luggage during winter though, as the roads have a 'watering system' that melts the ice so the roads seem to be perpetually wet, thereby getting luggage and shoes very wet. Recommend wearing waterproof boots or shoes during winter if travelling here.

Excellent place for ski-ers but fair amount of options available for non ski-ers. During weekends and important holidays, hanabi firework show is available for very limited time but enjoyable, especially with backdrop snow. Staff is excellent. I think, most of them speak English, so no language problem for foreigners. Prince hotel location is very good, vast, big. Will definitely recommend to others, especially during winter.

The hotel was very clean and nice to stay at. The room was very spacious. Hotel is within walking distance of Echigo Yuzawa Station. Shuttle busses come by the hotel about once an hour to haul you off to nearby ski resort which was really nice. Would definitely return to this place on my next visit to the area. Also Yuzawa Kogen is located right next to the hotel which is very convenient.

It's a very short walk from the train station. The complimentary breakfast is soooo good. No problem with heavy luggages since it has its own elevator despite being just a three-story hotel and having few rooms. I think it's very roomy when compared to other accomodations in Japan. Everything is soooo good and having an onsen is a bonus esp after a day of snowful activities. 😂

this is our kids' first ski trip. i would highly recommend this place and gala ski resort. This place situates between Enchigo-Yuzawa shingansen station and Gala ski resort. There is a ski rental shop in the hotel that can provide all-in-one services including all rental gear, discounted tickets to gala as well as free shuttle services back and forth.
