I had a corner room which gave me great views on two sides. On the first day it was rainy and misty, which made for great photos in the tea plantations, and the following days bright sunshine. There are a lot of things to do in the area and Shan was very helpful in arranging drivers/guides. As others have said, excellent food with generous portions!

Capoe House is a wonderful villa with two room among terraced rice fields and mountains. Its hard to get there. The hotel offroad will pick you up in the village and bring you to an amazing place outside of civilization. The view from the room is breathtaking and the staff are amazingly nice and helpful and will do anything for you. The chef cooks just for you and the food is great (except for the beef :-))

We had a perfect stay. The view was absolutely fantastic and the room was very spacious and comfortable. The host Gamini and his team were extraordinarily friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home from the very beginning. The food was very good too. We would highly recommend this place and would love to return.

Where do we begin? From the moment we stepped through the door we were knew this was going to be a highlight of our holiday. The hotel arranged a free pickup from Haputale train station and greeted us with a hot towel and a welcome drink. The location and view are breathtaking, the food is amazing and plentiful, and the cocktails were some of the best we’ve had. The rooms are beautiful with such attention to detail. We won’t spoil some of the wonderful touches that you will experience during your stay, but you will not be disappointed. The main reason why this place is so special is thanks to the wonderful team of people who work here. Exceptionally attentive in an understated kind of way. In a country where we have experienced nothing but great service and genuine hospitality this place really takes it to the next level thanks to everyone we met during our stay. We were made to feel like this was our home from home and loved it so much we extended our stay by one day. The ride up to Lipton’s seat is a must and we recommend walking part way back to enjoy the serene atmosphere of walking through the tea bushes and the tea pickers. Also, be sure to walk around the hotel property. If you are really lucky you might be joined for breakfast by the inquisitive monkeys. Sure, it’s not going to be the cheapest place you stay, but in our opinion it’s worth every penny. If you are looking for a little piece of heaven in Sri Lanka you’ve just found it! Definitely our favourite hotel of our holiday.

Haputale is a hidden gem in the Uva province.

Haputale is a hidden gem in the Uva province. Unlike the imo overhyped and touristy Ella, Haputale still has a quiet small town vibe with amazing views and is centrally located to many attractions such as the Dambatenne Estate and Lipton's Seat. There are so many things to do within 30 mins radius. If you are not a fan of the overcrowded tourist party scene and prefer a lowkey, relaxing place tucked away in the Sri Lankan Hill Country, then Haputale is your place! I would recommend having your hotel get you a tuk tuk for the day. They are very affordable and the drivers know all the places to go.

Lonely Planet recommended Haputale as a really authentic Sri Lankan experience and they were absolutely right. The location of the town along a high ridge with incredible views on either side was totally unique. You were truly mixing with the inhabitants of the town as they were going about their daily business. They smiled and chatted and made you feel welcome and part of their community. This is not a town that has been spoilt by tourism. I am so pleased I chose to stay here!

Haputale is a busy little authentically Sri Lankan town. Plenty of walking/hiking options - as easy or challenging as you would like. The views are incredible. It is definitely worth heading up to Lipton’s seat at 5am for the sunrise. In our opinion, a much better experience than the hustle and bustle of touristy Ella.

A gorgeous, not too busy location with spectacular views across the mountains. The guesthouse was comfortable and run by a lovely , friendly family. We had a fantastic stay, we could’ve stayed longer!

Haputale is a breathtaking hill town surrounded by lush tea...

Haputale is a breathtaking hill town surrounded by lush tea estates and misty mountains. We stayed at Benito Bungalow by The Serendipity Collection, where the in-house chef prepared fresh and delicious meals every day. The cool climate, scenic views, and peaceful setting made it the perfect place to unwind. It’s quieter and less touristy than other hill stations, which adds to its charm. A true hidden gem in Sri Lanka!

Most of the activities are outside of main Haputale the...

Most of the activities are outside of main Haputale the hiking is wonderful as was our visit to Lipton's seat and the tour of the tea factory. Main Haputale not really much going on but the hotel was perfect after a long day of hiking.

This was a proper guesthouse in that we felt extremely welcomed by the family. In addition to the fantastic food (highly recommend taking a cooking class there!) we also got great tips about hikes and activities in the surrounding area. The atmosphere of the little dining area is fantastic, and the rooms were clean and as expected:) the location is in a quiet hillside a bit outside of Haputale, which was great. The hosts will help you arrange anything you might need in terms of transportation etc. Would stay here again!

Excellent location very close to the bus station. It's on the edge of the hill and has very good views. The Guest house is run by a really sweet and friendly couple. Good English is spoken. Nice outdoor sitting area on both floors. I had the cheapest room which was clean and small but cozy and had a private bathroom. There is a variety of rooms, some even with private furnished balconies with an excellent view. There's a restaurant downstairs, and oh yeah, the lady can cook. Excellent food. Cold beers available too

The location and views from the hotel are fantastic and photos don’t to it justice. The rooms are wonderfully designed and the pool was fab. The biggest shout out has to go to our tuk tuk driver Mr Kumara who took us up to Lipton’s Seat and looked after us so well. Ask for him at reception as he really is the best! Greg & Harriet

The Host was extraordinary Caring. He arranged a TUK TUK Drive for us to See the Sunset. He also has very good tips for Trips in the surrounding area. The breakfast was outstanding, best one I Had in Sri Lanka!!
