The staff was very friendly and helpful.they would greet you with a smile all the time and help you. This property is really one of the best in the area especially for the price you pay, it is right on the beach and we paid a little extra for a sea view room which did not disappoint. The property is light and airy and modern in design. My favourite part though was the staff, this is the reason I would recommend this place, they were so welcoming and friendly and they would assist you in anyway possible with a smile, the young men that work there are prepared to go the extra mile to help you with any little thing as is the young lady on reception, I was very sad to leave!

Love this town - especially Narigama, a tad bit off Hikkaduwa main city. There's plenty of dining options, we had some of the best cafe mocha at Salty Swami's. Our favourite eatery for local cuisine is Chamodi's - SO YUMMY, and so affordable. The yummiest nachos - Sea Salt Society. Refresh restaurant did a fantastic take on the pancake filled with coconut and treacle, topped with vanilla ice cream. We also had our first diving experience from Baracudda Diving School - their trainers were really good - shout out to Ishan. We also went snorkelling which was fun. In general the people were friendly. There's also somewhat of a night life.

We wanted to relax now.
We wanted to relax now. Nimal's Homestay is perfect for that, as it lays actually in Dodanduwa, away from the noisy tourist-hub of central Hikkaduwa. ( And ofcourse because Chania is an exceptional cook; her Sinhalese food is paradisical). Because Nimal is an excellent touristguide an active stay is also possible, as we experienced earlier. He can plan your trip to any highlight throughout the country and is willing to take you anywhere. Even for families.

If you love going to beaches, surfing, snorkeling with fish and turtles or diving then head on to Hikkaduwa where the sunset meets the sand and waves. We went to Tranz Hotel by Cinnamon for a day pass inclusive of amenities access, buffet lunch and afternoon tea. Pool was great and buffet spread was fantastic. lucky enough soon as we settled on our hotel sun beds, near the beach one of the security guard told us that there were turtles that showed up on the shore and so we ended up snorkeling with the turtles…it was the happiest day ever.

There are plenty of places to eat here and prices vary, but are generally very good. The town is on the rail line from Matara to Colombo and there are plenty of buses. So getting to Galle is a 40 minute bus ride, although you might want to shut your eyes at the driving!!

Overrated in my personal opinion, plenty of tourists traps ! The local people seem to be not as welcoming as in other no tourist destinations. Felt quite isolated at times… unless you are Russian. Judge for yourself, we run away to another destination 😉

Beautiful boutique hotel right on the beach on the edge of Hikkaduwa - seaview suite view was stunning, staff lovely and excellent customer service throughout. Food in the hotel was really good (recommend the chili crab, and traditional Sri Lankan curry particularly). Big shout out to Tyronne and his team in the restaurant - excellent service and nothing was too much trouble, always welcoming and happy smiling face!

I was travelling to Hikkaduwa from Colombo from February 12 till 18th, 2023, I was initially planing to stay for 3 days but I extended it for 3 more days as I was very satisfied by my stay. An owner is very friendly and his staff is usually on duty. So I was satisfied with a hotel, big bathroom, breakfast and very good location with a fantastic beach and many brilliant restaurants behind.
