We went for a guided hike in the morning and enjoyed learning about all the wildlife and plant live. We had lunch near the ocean in the sister restaurant and then checked in. The rooms are very nice. We felt like we were in a scene from Jurassic Park. The pool is small but very relaxing (especially with a tropical drink in your hand). At night, we sat on the porch, listening to wild boars roaming around and watching the bats searching for food. Dinner was amazing. We ate in the lodge and had the wild boar caught in the surrounding area. It was so delicious. The morning breakfast consisted of fresh local fruits, eggs any way you wanted, and so much more. The staff were very attentive and really wanted to make your stay the best of experiences.

Very spacious and clean accomodations.Our family was very comfortable. The host was very friendly and helpful. Great location to explore the island if you are not looking to stay on the beach. You need a car. Kitchen was well equiped. Good value for money.

    The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than...

    The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than beach resorts, although admittedly there is no beach on this part of the Mauritian coast, so the area attracts a different kind of traveller. It is a rather run-down place but has considerable charm. The waterfront is a lovely (if windy) area to stroll around and the town has some interesting historical attractions - also a few kilometres away, in Vieux Grand Port, the site of the first landing on the island (by the Dutch, in 1598). One matter to be aware of concerns going out for dinner in the town. There are plenty of restaurants in the central area, many of them very welcoming and with very good food, however: - the streets are very poorly lit after dark, resulting in considerable stretches where a torch/phone light is useful; - most streets have no pavements, or very uneven/poor quality pavements where they do exist, so you have to walk in the road - watch your step and beware traffic that rushes past, often very suddenly (however, the local drivers are good at swerving to avoid pedestrians)! - unnervingly, there are large numbers of dogs roaming around on the streets - this seems to be the case all over Mauritius, even in the capital, albeit to a lesser extent. By day they are very placid and tend to shy away from people, but after dark they are often uncomfortably territorial and can be aggressive.

    Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront.

    Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront. I prefer the modern part of the city versus the downtown area which has narrower streets. Historical Mahébourg Museum is worth visiting. Don’t forget the delicious Biscuits Manioc!

    A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South.

    A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South. We only spent one day there, basically to shorten the trip to the airport the next morning, but we discovered several little gems. My one complaint - it could do with some live sega music. We will definitely spend a few more days there on our next trip.

    The city is not beautiful.

    The city is not beautiful. It is good for accomodation and making trips from the base. There is no nice bar where to go for a drink during evening. There are some good restaurants and nice market. I would recommend to stay in Blue Bay if you can find affordable accomodation there.

    Mahebourg is the downtown of Mauritius, do not stay there unless you wanna sleep for a night so you can be closer to the airport because it is closer to the airport, otherwise the north side is the best for accommodation.

    Mahebourg is not at all touristy.

    Mahebourg is not at all touristy. You get A true taste of island life. The eateries are mainly visited by locals with the odd tourist. They're cheap & always delicious. I must recommend Chez Marilyn. Blue Bay is a short drive from town & well worth a visit! We stayed for 7 nights which was a few days too long, maybe 4 or 5 nights is enough.

    The location is close to the Mahebourg waterfront. The Blue Bay beach is at a distance of around 5 km. The WiFi connection is very good. There is free drinking water available on each floor. The room is spacious. The bed is large and comfortable. There is a terrace at the third floor with nice sea view. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. They offered me free transport to the airport as a compensation for not staying in a room with sea view.

    Friendly helpful, staff and welcomed with a cold fruit juice. Clean comfortable room. Our room was changed from the one we booked and ended up having a kitchen and washing machine that we did not expect. Small pool for use by guests. Nice breakfast included 7-9am. Walkable into Mahebourg or local bus from the nearby supermarket to Mahebourg or Blue Bay. Able to arrange taxi to the airport (not from the airport).

    Amazing hotel. Very private. You can wake up with the most amazing view on the valley. The staff is incredible. We came there only for a night unfortunately and they prepared us dinner and breakfast even though we arrived super late. I hope I will come back !! Thank you very much Ferney
