Lovely hotel, clean and perfectly located. 2 minutes walk from the beach and to the bus station. Calm at night, nice light coming into the room, AC working well. Also Micky is the sweetest host, she makes you feel at home and has a lovely boutique down stairs. Thank you again, we loved our stay with you!

Everything was on point. The room was spacious and had a lot of light (a superior room or similar), a huge balcony, nice design to the room, comfy beds, the access to the beach felt as if it was a private one as it will take you 30 seconds from the room to get to the beach chair. The beach was nice, practically no seaweed (they have nets, important factor in Mahahual), not very crowded, should you want you can order food and drinks right on the beach etc. The hotel has a bar/restaurant downstairs with very good breakfast, drinks and food in general. The most important part, the people were just super professional and friendly. The guys at the restaurant and Jenny in reception. Thank you! Mahahual and Noah were perfect!

The ladies running the hotel were adorable! I got upgraded to a jr suite a gorgeous room with a huge balcony. They give you coffee and tea in your room and filtered water. The hotel staff also gave me the best recommendations for food and transportation they even booked my bus ride to Bacalar for me! Highly recommend.

I stayed in the mini cabanas for about 1 week. Having lived in and traveled through the eastern coast of Mexico, this location is by far one of my favorites of all time! Staying in The cabanas was a great new experience for me!! The cabanas are seemingly the most private rooms on the property. They sit right across from the beautiful beach club & beach. I could see the beauty, smell the freshness, and hear the ocean from my porch. The town is fairly quiet and small, with a little action from the cruise ships every once in a while. Miguel works the front desk of the Blue Kay, and he was one of the highlights of my stay. He was extremely pleasant and very helpful. He even helped me extend my stay when I messed up my booking online. His customer service is phenomenal! Even when he wasn't feeling 100% well, he was still so pleasant and gave better customer service than one could ask for! I absolutely love the property, I loved the people there, and enjoyed everything about the town. I will ALWAYS stay at Blue Kay!!!

Excellent hotel with a really nice restaurant. The bedroom was really spacious, clean and felt luxurious. On arrival the reception gave us complimentary drinks which was really nice after a long drive. Staff were very friendly, especially Antonio who really looked after us. Definitely would recommend this hotel.

I don¥t really like beach club type of beaches so when I first arrived I found it too busy for my liking, but then I walked away from the busy part and found some amazing places which I had all to myself.

Mahahual was rundown and uncared for.

Mahahual was rundown and uncared for. For a tourist destination we noticed a lot of uncollected rubbish on the beaches and the tourist spots needed a refresh. It is highly recommended for diving as they have a reef but again the seaweed is a major problem and has not been tackled by the local authorities bearing in mind that swimming is the main activity there.

A quiet place with laid-back vibe.

A quiet place with laid-back vibe. Busy when cruise ships are in town, but they leave in the evening and the town is quiet at night. A good alternative to the crazy scene in Cancun, Cozumel or anywhere to the north. Snorkeling is not that good, but apparently the diving is good on the outer reef. The hotel's small freshwater pool was refreshing and the beach was cleaned and raked every day. Good birding too.

I really enjoyed the calmness of Mahahual!

I really enjoyed the calmness of Mahahual! Nice little beaches which feel more like a pool. If you are looking to Party, this is not the place to go. There are only a couple bars that put music at night, but it is no Tulum, Cancun or Playa del Carmen! It is more a town where you come to relax on the beach, snorkel and then chill on your balcony or on the beach while drinking calmly! I really enjoyed the chill vibe of the city! The little stores close early, but there are always grocery stores and restos that stay open later!

Aquastar was well located right on the Malecon. Easy walking distance to lots of restaurants. Yes, it was right on the beach; but, not an area nice enough to get into the water. Too much seaweed. You had to walk to a nice beach,

Nice fishermen's village with good restaurants.

Nice fishermen's village with good restaurants. Very rustic in terms of hotels and restaurants. The beach is clean and nice, clean water. However, it does suffer from the same problem of all beaches from Cancun up to here: lots of seawater. So cleaneless will depend how often they clean the seaweed. Overall is a place to go once; no need to return, but glad I went. Food cost can be expensive for what they are.

Please be aware that the beachfront of the accomodation can be full of seagrass (Sargassum). This made us decide to cancel our stay. The whole beach was covered and smelling. Even the sea water was brownish and unclear. If you do not want to get surprised and your stay being ruined upon arival, call the owner in advance to check the situation!

Food plentiful and excellent quality. Deal with the free breakfast very good...full till mid afternoon! Properly made/mixed cocktails using fresh ingredients. No pre-mix. Staff couldn't be more helpful. Good sense of humour. English spoken if you couldn't speak Spanish. Right on the beach. Good sunbeds.

The apartment is like in the photos. The sofa bed was comfortable for two people. The garden is nice and the kitchen well equipped. The hosts provided useful information about beaches that were relatively clean of sargazo although all Mahahual is affected by this invasive seaweed.
