Hotel in Masaya
This air-conditioned hotel in the town of Mayasa features free Wi-Fi and is located only 2789 feet from the local Central Park. Guests at Hotel Ivania enjoy complimentary breakfast and lush gardens. Very secure gated property, which gave us good peace of mind. Just a 2-3 minute walk from the Masaya markets. Nice big room that was very clean, nice breakfast and an extremely helpful gentleman on the front desk. They also provided secure gated parking. Definitely recommend. Don't miss the Masaya volcano that is only a 10-15min drive from the property.
Masaya
Hostal Casa San Miguel is located in Masaya and has a shared lounge and a garden. Many reasons for enjoying the stay. It felt very safe with the gate to property locked, and security cameras of the grounds. The staff helped coordinate tours. It was so very quite, even the backyard outdoor green space was peaceful place to eat meals. The entire property was clean and bright. Options for AC and traditional or American breakfast provided. Excellent coffee!
Masaya
This impressive property is on a hilltop just outside the Masaya Volcano National Park. It offers an outdoor pool, hot tub and stylish rooms, all with amazing views. Remote, beautiful and peaceful. Love the art work. Everyone was very safe about the corona virus. Key note, get driving directions from the resort! If you are using Waze app to map the drive from Masaya, last mile is not usable in a normal 4x4. Good news is the route from Masatepe is ok. The staff was first class. Carlos, Oscar, Francisco and the chef where all great. They were very friendly, personable, and made sure that all our needs were met. They were thorough in asking about food allergies and if requested something to be changed in the ingredients they were happy to do that for us. The food was amazing. We done 2 nice tours with them, each was small and safe. We don’t speak a lot of Spanish so Carlos spoke very good English, that was a great help around the resort and on tours. Wifi is ok for most usable, but not for streaming, which is fine given the nature views.

La Laguna (Near Masaya)
Set in La Laguna, Casa Bella offers accommodations with a kitchenette. Complimentary WiFi is provided. A terrace with mountain views is offered in all units. The holiday home offers a barbecue. Where to begin? It started with a nice personalized welcome sign with my name on the house, fresh flowers and a cake for my birthday which was the day I moved in. What a beautiful welcome! The whole house and property are so special and designed with so much thought put into it. There are ear plugs next to the bed, a stuffed teddy in the bed, handy supplies like bug spray etc. everywhere, some groceries in the fridge waiting for you and not to forget the most amazing view of the laguna right from the bed. You dont even have to leave the bed to see the beautiful sunrise. Little colorful art projects are found everywhere, in the garden and at the private beach, and it just feels like paradise. You couldnt wish for lovelier staff that goes out of their way to make your stay the best ever. Its just a magical place and Im so glad I got to spend some time there.

We were lucky that there was a festival going on. Though cowboys and cowgirls on beautifull horses, showing there skills what the horses with the rider all could do. There were also beautifull carrages, etc. etc. The festival in 2019 was on september 22.
There isn’t that much to do in the city itself, except maybe going to the Mercado de Artisanias and the park in Malecón... Although if you want cheap food you should definitely visit the Central Park. The great thing about Masaya was that it is close to the volcano and trips there are easy to arrange!
Lonely Planet incorrectly gave this place the snub. There are plenty of places to stay, eat and drink; and also lots to do. We enjoyed Masaya much more than Granada so if you're in the "eww Granada" camp with us, I recommend using Masaya as your lodging spot to/from airport if you're trying to bypass Managua. We enjoyed hanging out for a couple days and also taking day trips to the Pueblos Blancos. Shame on lonely planet for not reviewing this town more objectively!
Not too much to see in Masaya - churches, central square, and the artists market. Great stop for final day in Nicaragua to buy a few things, artist market more expensive Thant municipal market, so shop around. Many people stop here to go to the active volcano.
Ver y good City to visit... Little typical pueblo from Nicaragua with all the essentials (Parque with typical food, Mercado with things to buy, Mirador, etc). The volcano is a must see especially at night
Cute little charming town with an amazing local market and the Masaya volcano nearby! Worth to stay 2 nights ! We are at a place called comida criollas (recommended by the owner of our hostel ) - very good and cheap !
