FAQs about hotels in Eindhoven

Genuine Dutch Design

A bustling small city, Eindhoven is the "Capital of Dutch Design" and home to the Design Academy. It houses a renowned technical university, and is a European technological hub that makes it shine with modern buildings and venues. The 5th-largest city in the Netherlands has also become popular for the fast-growing Eindhoven Airport.

Although it gained its city rights in 1232, until the foundation of the Philips Company in 1891 it was still a small village. Encompassing the growth of the company, at the beginning of the 21st century its population had jumped to 200,000 people.

Nowadays, it still attracts companies and people wanting to develop themselves in the fields of creativity and innovation. The Dutch Design Week is a famous event that takes place in October, while contemporary media, art and technology inspire the city’s agenda throughout the year.

Choosing hotels in central Eindhoven is the best way to have everything at hand. However, hotels or B&Bs near the train station or Eindhoven Airport are also a good option to avoid last-minute rushes. Check out Booking.com’s deals before you travel!

    A truly unremarkable town.

A truly unremarkable town. We had to walk for 12 minutes even to get to a coffee. A US diplomate once described the Cold War West German Capital of Bonn as "Half as big as an average cemetery in Chicago, but double as dead". Eindhoven meets this description as well. I will never consider staying or passing through there again.

Eindhoven is a small but nice city.

Eindhoven is a small but nice city. There are plenty of places to eat and have a drink. Everything is within walking distance. The Philips Museum was interesting and I enjoyed the walk to Strijp S. I found the city to be a bit expensive eating out but that is due to higher wages in the Netherlands. It is not a very touristy city. We struggled to find a place to buy a magnet and ended up finding one in the central station bookshop for almost 5 euro! We like to collect magnets so of course we got it. I think Eindhoven is worth visiting for 1 day and its location is useful to travel to other cities. For example we went to Antwerp by train and it was a pretty short journey. The pub street was a bit of an anti-climax. I had read that it has the most pubs etc but it was really dull and we went in August on a weekend, so I expected it to be more lively.

In our trip to Amsterdam We have the flight to and from Eindhoven so we booked this hotel which was perfect choice for our needs, near city center and near the train station to go out for our trip. It’s quite a small city so there isn’t much tourist stuff to do. A long weekend 2-3 days is more than enough for here. The city is a bit groovy with different building designs and artwork all around. There’s a vast amount of shopping to be done and lots or variety for everyone. Finding a restaurant proved quite difficult as a lot of restaurants seemed to be Asian cuisine. Eventually we found a restaurant Da Verdi and Publiek both we highly recommend. Travel here is great. There’s a bus from the airport to city centre and there is also a train station where you can get to most of the Netherlands. They also have underground stations. Great options for cakes and pastries from a lot of bakeries dotted around the city. Everyone cycles! This is a must know especially if you love cycling - there are specific lanes for cyclists so they tend to keep out of your way.

The city was very clean and the centre area compact. There was a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants, with interesting menus. The downside was the price of absolutely everything, especially eating and drinking! Shocking expensive place to visit.

Not really a touristy city but the Van Abbemuseum is one of the best art museums we've ever visited. Quite a few nice bars and restaurants around. Also a good base for day trips - we managed to visit Amsterdam, Antwerp and Dusseldorf during our stay!
