Set in Balestrand in the Vestland region, Villa Holmen has a garden. The villa is very romantic with great views of the mountains and Sognefjiord. The rooms of this large two-story home are spacious, well appointed, and comfortable. We loved the wood burning stove in the living room and used it each evening during our stay. We also appreciated the well equipped laundry room. There's nothing better than the smell of clean clothes after a long trip. The location is right in the heart of Balestrand and a few steps from the aquarium, restaurants and art galleries. We even went to the movies (Fisherman's Friends) one night in the former school. Much fun! Of the dozen plus B&Bs/hotels/apartments we stayed in during our month long travel in six European countries, we voted Villa Hohmann the best of all!

Beautiful surroundings. Very fun to travel with a speedboat combined with historical tour. Cider house had delicious food. Highly recommendable. Perfect place for anyone who loves outdoor activities and want to be in a beautiful environment.
Beautiful location and friendly small town. Unfortunately it rained quite heavy in September 2019 when we were there so that we couldn't do much biking and hiking as we had anticipated, but there was still enough to do to keep us occupied the day and a half that we spent there. Dinner with a piano concert in the Kviknes Hotel was particularly memorable.
Cute town with a lot packed into a small place. Walking around town is easy. There are two grocery stores and plenty of restaurants. We went to an English Mass at St Olaf's Church too. If we had arrived earlier in the day we might have had time to fish from the shores of the fjord.
We loved our visit to Balestrand even though it rained two of the four days. The restaurants are plentiful and the cobbled streets are charming. The Funicular is a must as it gives you a wonderful view of the whole city and fjords!
This is a most picturesque village located along the Sognefjord. It’s so beautiful and very lucky not to have any large cruise ships in its open harbor. There are several really good restaurants readily available (The Cider House, Kviknes Eating and Drinking among others) and the town is fun to walk around featuring architecturally beautiful homes. St Olav’s Church and several nature trails are right at hand. There are several spectacular overlooks in the area you can reach by car (Utsikten). Extraordinary beauty along these waterways- this is one of the best.
We loved the Cider House and the Heritage Trail walk. The English Church and the Norwegian Museum of Tourism were both very interesting. If we'd had more time, we would have done more nature walks/hiking and perhaps have visited the aquarium.
