Located in Bhaktapur, a few steps from Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Hotel Central Bhaktapur has accommodations with a garden. I spent the last night in my trip to Nepal at Bgaktapur & at this hotel. This was the perfect choice. Thamel area is too much commercialized but you can feel the mood of good old Nepal here. Shorter distance to Nagarkod is another reason to stay at Bhaktapur. And this hotel is absolutely recommendable from whatever aspect.
Hotel in Bhaktapur
Boasting a bar, Hotel Baha Restaurant and Cafe in Bhaktapur is located 656 feet from Bhaktapur Durbar Square. The room was smaller than appears in photo, but still comfy considering how old the building is and having to be refurbished after the. Earthquake. The owner speaks perfect English and even drove us to next hotel (less than 2Ks away, but road too rough for dragging suitcase and torn up for repair). Good coffee and you can see Nyatapola pagoda from hotel window! Would stay here again if I ever get chance to return.

Bhaktapur is still recovering from the 2015 earthquake which created havoc with the local historic buildings. However, much has been done though. The place is doing it's best to get back into a reasonable position however COVID has taken its toll on the local industry and tourist venues (small shops and traders as well as the restaurants and hotels - a large number of which were closed when I visited.) I have visited many times and it still retains a special charm - photographic opportunities are always present, whether the buildings, the people or the views of the mountains - still is a magical place. Oh, (like other places in Nepal) the people are so friendly - they stop and ask if you need help but just want to be helpful, with no pushy sales pitch or offering of a ride to other local attractions.
The best part is always its food. I just can't stop myself from eating Newari khaja set( Newari cultural food) and juju dhau ( special curd ) . Also, this time they had the facility of boating in Siddha Pokhari and it was a lot of fun paddling oneself.
One of the best places of Kathmandu. You will definitely want to stay longer than your original intend. We extended our stay there for 2 extra nights (4 nights in total) People are friendly, the old city is very beautiful. (If you intend to stay more than 1 night, be careful to ask to write down your passport number on your entrance ticket to the old city, otherwise you will have to pay the entrance multiple times..)
A number of attractions in old town well worth seeing. Some earthquake damage has spoilt a few though. Some restaurants overpriced and over rated in certain guides. Typical of many places all over the world though. Short walks outside old town worth the effort. Out passed Ram Ghat to hill top gives good view of Himalayas, for instance and chance to see more local people untouched by tourism.
Very beautiful city with a lot of temples, ponds and fountains. Unfortunately there’s much to reconstruct because of the earthquake. There’s no nightlife and everything is close at 9 pm, even the restaurants.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Peacock Guest House. It is very cosy hotel with a lot of character and the owners Arunodaya and Indra are very welcoming and helpful making you to feel very comfortable. Anju who works for the hotel was very kind too with a smile in her face all the time and always trying to help. She also made our stay very pleasant and we would definitely go back to this hotel if travel to Nepal again.
Bhaktapur
Amazing hotel located in ancient building 15 century. Ceiling are not high and floor is vibrating when you go through the room - these action takes you back to that times. At the same time room looks very nice and cozy. It was so nice to have a heater and electro-sheet to warm up our bed as we stayed in hotel in winter time. Breakfast is really big and tasty. Also coffee was pretty good, what is hard to find in Nepal. Perfect location!
