Rotorua is living proof of the magnificent, and sometimes mind-boggling, might of nature. Smoking hot springs, bubbling mud pools and fast-spouting geysers give the surrounding landscape an almost other-worldly feel.
This New Zealand city sits in the Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the world’s newest geothermal hotspot. It was created after the 1886 eruption that covered Te Wairoa Buried Village, between 2 of many lakes gracing this fertile terrain. By Lake Rotorua’s shores is the luxurious Polynesian Spa with its thermal pools. Just behind in Government Gardens are the city’s best cultural offerings: the Arts Village, Tamaki Maori Village and Rotorua Museum, in an elegant former bath house.
Native animals roam in Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park below Mount Ngongotaha, accessible via the Skyline cable car. The views while ascending make it obvious why this is called the Bay of Plenty. Tikitere Thermal Park on the opposite side of the lake is known as Hell’s Gate, but as long as you can ignore the sulphuric smell, the spas are simply heavenly.
More springs are in Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, whose surrounding forest is popular for mountain biking, and Wai-O-Tapu where the Champagne Pool is a striking mix of green and orange.

Great place to visit, the new spa facility is especially recommended. Can't go to the geyser valley anymore if not a part of a tourist group, which is a bummer. Also feels a bit on an expensive side if you pack it with tourist attractions. But visiting the amazing nature around is free!

I like that it’s central to other towns for day tripping if not always plenty to do in Rotorua, feed the lions, gondola and luge, the redwoods,museum, night market, lakes soo many food outlets, wine and dine or just relax in a hotel or motel accommodations with your very own spa pool AWESOME 🙌 don’t for get the Maori villages for a taste of culture, Opies ….fish n chips, seafood, Chinese dine n or walk away 😊ArohaNew Zealand - Scored 2.02.0

I would never recommend any traveler to stay at the Copthorne Rotorua hotel. The most terrible experience ever. No Toiletries, No staff to hele with luggage during check-in and check out. I checked out a day earlier the room was very dirty , the bathroom floor had hair everywhere. Total disappointment.

Recommend the monster 4x4 buggies at Offroad NZ. Velocity Valley was also fun but pricey for a short activity. Motion Entertainment Centre do great packages for multiple activities which kept the family occupied for a couple of hours

There are many interesting things to do with Rotorua.
There are many interesting things to do with Rotorua. You can see lots of beautiful views and eat lots of nice food there. The Saturday market is good for going to have a look, the market is open for very Saturday at Kuirau Park, you can enjoy nice food and do shopping there, and after enjoy the activities from Saturday market, you can soak your feet in the free hot springs pool.AAnonymous

Everything was great the bed was so comfortable and was great to have all channels on sky working. The staff I dealt with were awesome.
