Located on the edge of Redwoods forest and overlooking the famous Whakarewarewa Geothermal Reserve and Historical Village, Rydges Rotorua features a purpose-built mountain bike and adventure equipment... Amazing views of geothermal springs and redwood forests from room. Lovely warm swimming pool and hot jacuzzis. Friendly helpful staff and a nice bar area to relax in. Room was spacious and extremely comfortable, my best sleep in weeks. Located very near springs and hiking trails, a bit far out of town but loved being near the trails.

Centrally located on the shores of Lake Rotorua, Novotel Rotorua Lakeside features a restaurant, a fitness centre, a geothermal spa and hot pools. We had a very enjoyable stay and found the private pools very relaxing. I had a faint at our table during our dinner in the dining room on Tuesday night (must have been related to migraine) and the staff were outstanding calling the ambulance and suppling an icepack and checking in the morning. Grateful thanks for their kindness.

The Distinction Hotel in Rotorua is only 500 metres from to the famous Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve. This 4-star hotel offers 3 restaurants, a bar, heated spa pools and a fitness centre. I asked the front desk staff for help several times and they were great, very helpful. My friends who were were also staying booked their room for the following month accidentally :) and the staff worked really hard and quickly to get a room that had to have air con repaired, fixed and available - they went above and beyond. Myself and a friend ran the Tarawera Ultramarathon so comfort was needed, and the rooms were extremely comfortable.

This place is professionally run. It is safe and secure and has a good number of toilets and showers. The huge kitchen and dining area allows guests to make what I can only describe as gourmet meals. Really nice atmosphere - there were at least two family groups having a blast! Free, fast WiFi too. I loved the location in the centre of town. It was dead quiet (other than the drunk hostel guests coming back from their night out!).
I have been many times to Rotorua, this time realising there is actually so much more to offer compared with say Taupo, which is also lovely. Rained out, not a lot to do unless you are outdoors in the rain, which I didn't want to do. Tried a local art gallery, but wasn't very good. Polynesian spa is a must do, with massages and a view of the lake through the steam wafting around you.
Rotorua is central to other major cities. I stay here whenever I travel to Hamilton as it is only 1hr away and has everything that i need when away from home. The motel is usually stay at is value for money
We have been to Rotorua many times over the past 50 years so only wen to 2 places we had not been to before.Secret spot hot tubsand the 3 D trick art Gallery. We had a grat dinner at an irish pub - sunday night roast and a mongolai buffet feast.
I fell in love with Rotorua. The town is rich in natural beauty and activities. It is surrounded by mountains and forests with trails, has 18 lakes, geothermal pools, parks along the lakes with renovated excellent playground for children. The streets and sidewalks are wide, clean and have decorative details. The restaurants were very good and varied. We (a young couple, a grandmother and a 2-year old found plenty to do there.
Hadn't been for years, so much to do. Amazing. I will definitely go back again, in the near future. Whitewater rafting was good. And Mt tarawera were challenging. The Redwoods was more relaxing. Indoor Rock-climbing was abit of a mission, having only done it once before.Well worth the time. Easier with more time to do things rather than a mad rush.... only there for 3 or 4 days. Next time will try to pace myself. Not so much on a mission.......I'm not young 60, will try to slow down next time..in Rotorua.
Rotorua
I liked the massive refurbishment they undertook very very impressive best i have seen in my life I have never seen one as extensive as this. The effect is that you get the old world space but now combined with the modern facilities. full aircon rather than the traditional thermal heater. The staff were so friendly. I have never had help to carry my bags up to the room apart from in expensive hotels where they expect big tips but that was the standard. Excelent communication in english was something i also appreciated.
Rotorua
Really comfy, clean and good sized room (had a small couch which I wasn't expecting). Friendly, accommodating staff. Really liked the spa area. Great setting right on the lake. Excellent value for money especially during the school holidays. A very quiet, relaxing base to explore Rotorua. It's a little tired in areas around the hotel but I think this is reflective of the price and also how difficult the past few years have been for hotels in touristy areas.
Rotorua
The hotel room was a great size for our family of five. The pool was lovely and warm and the bonus was being able to jump into our private spa afterwards. Everything was clean and serviced daily (even vacuuming which we have found some other hotels don’t do). Beds were comfortable and warm but there are fans in both rooms if needed. Kitchen and bathrooms were a great size and very functional! Thanks for having us! :)
Location well suited to needs. Facilities are great except that every time we stay the Māori and Te Reo channels on Sky are not functioning. Rotorua is New Zealand's first Reo Rua city, so it is unfortunate that the hotel is not ensuring that the in room television does not support this fabulous initiative. The excuses given by front desk staff are questionable.
Rotorua
-Very family orientated -staff always on hand and ready to be of service -Had lots of useful information regarding nearby activities and things open on Christmas Day in the area -Had all the necessary facilities that on a rainy day it was perfectly fine to stay at the hotel with children
Lovely, comfortable and clean room, with large bathroom including a bathtub. The pool was great, and the whole hotel - including staff, other customers, facilities was just fantastic. I can't recommend the budget family rooms enough.
We really loved our stay here, the kids loved the pool and the breakfast was great! The staff were super friendly too and we were really impressed with the overall cleanliness of not just the room but the other areas in the hotel too.
The hotel has a Jacuzzi mineral bath and pool. It is next to the Government Garden and the beach. The room and bathroom is spacious and comfy. The breakfast has hot meals, cereals and fruits. The laundry room is in the back.
