Everything was really great. The room, the staff, the restaurant and the position close to the city center. They also offer breakfast takeaway for who, like us, wanted to start an hike early in the morning. We didn’t find anything we would like to be improved.

Absolutely deserves to be in the list "The leading hotels of the world". Stunning design, top architecture and the most beautiful plants everywhere! We loved our spacious room with a sea and swimming pool views. Very professional and attentive to all detailes stuff. The most beautiful skyroof terrace and swimming pool ever! All restaurants serve great food for reasonable prices. We travel the world around and this amazing hotel could manage to surprise us!

Extremely helpful and efficient staff. Their recommendations were spot on and extremely valuable . Breakfast was simple, healthy, homemade, excellent, as a fresh breakfast should be. Even the packed breakfast they gave me due to my early departure was great and prepared with thought and care.

We loved everything about this hotel! From the arrival where we were greeted with champagne to the wonderful food and bars offered within the hotel to the OUTSTANDING spa staff, we could not have had a better trip. We visited during a 3 day storm so we had plenty of time to use all of the hotel amenities and could not recommend them more. The rooms were spacious, had balconies (for those rare, clear moments) and had modern, clean bathrooms with luxurious showers. While I did not eat at the restaurant for dinner, 6 of our other friends did and absolutely raved about the food. The quality and value, coupled with excellent staff made for an amazing trip. Only a 5-minute walk from so many things to do in Old town and a 10-minute cab ride to the more commercialized, shopping area of town. We would only stay at the Castanheiro hotel again if we return.

The room was spacious with a balcony overlooking the sea. The hotel is very quiet, there are no breakfast queues or big crowds at the pools like in big hotels. It's the perfect place for relaxing. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The restaurant surprised us with its excellent quality.

Excellent location, lovely personal and great atmosphere all together. It was quiet and cozy. The territory around is well maintained and very green, with beautiful garden. The breakfast and dinner were very delicious, I believe that everyone will find that will suit their taste. Personally I loved the omelette and variety of fruits at the breakfast and excellent fish and vegetarian dishes served at dinner. Almost forgot - the rooms are big, clean and comfortable.

Staying at The Reserve was an absolute dream come true. I was treated with the utmost care feeling like royalty. The room was a haven of comfort, featuring a private swimming pool with ocean views. One of the most memorable experiences was my trip to the airport in the hotel’s Rolls Royce. :) The journey was the perfect way to conclude my stay, leaving me feeling pampered and refreshed in the most luxurious style. The Reserve exceeded all my expectations making it an unforgettable experience.

Hotel decor is old style but food is amazing in the main...

Hotel decor is old style but food is amazing in the main restaurant with excellent staff always at hand to assist. There is a shuttle bus to town of Funchal extra bonus. There is gym, games activities etc. I think they are going to renovate the hotel next year. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I would go there again.
