In the village of Breb, 3.7 mi from Ocna Sugatag in Maramures county, Pensiunea Marioara a large garden and a possibility of bicycle rentals, as well as a common dining area with a refrigerator and... They stay was familial, the cooking was fresh, regional, authentic and delicious. The room was simple but had a very nice local decoration. We loved and enjoyed it here.
Located in Breb, 16 mi from Sighetu Marmaţiei, Casa Pintea de Sub Coastă features free bikes and free WiFi. Fitted with a balcony, the units feature a TV and a private bathroom with shower. The owners are incredible people. We Cannot portray all the ways in which they went above and beyond to give us a wonderful experience. Food was outstanding. Very clean throughout. It's a working farm so expect to hear, smell and see animals .... but that is all part of the stay... that's why we booked. All we could ask for, and more.
Set in Breb in the Maramureş region, Casuta Bunicilor offers accommodations with free WiFi and free private parking. A garden, barbecue and a terrace are offered at the homestay. Local food was out of this world. Extremely friendly guests. The small pitoresque village was how I imagined some places from the books I’ve read.

Very clean and very hospitable family. They treated us as their family members. They cooked us dinner and served us breakfast. Rooms very clean and modern. 10 of 10 Stars.
Quaint little village, old wooden houses and very welcoming people. Will cater to all ages and all types interested in rural tourism - this is what Breb does best. The surroundings are beautiful and the lifestyle is like the place was frozen in time. Highly recommended.
I almost don't want to recommend it for fear of tourism bringing too much change, but that would be selfish. Breb is an oasis of peace, tranquility and an opportunity to still experience life and tradition that didn't see much change for 100s of years, although change is happening. It is a rural village that is welcoming and has facilities, but not a place if you are looking for all the home comforts and retail and food outlets. Breb offers a base for exploring this beautiful part of Romania and there are tourist opportunities for visits and experiences through advertised groups.
Breb is a small town in Maramures where people still live in a very traditional way. The nature surrounding Breb is very beautiful and the people are very friendly. We loved experiencing the self sufficient way of living with almost all people owning some pigs, cows, chickens and land where the grow their own vegetables. In the area there are plenty of things to do by car and you can enjoy nice hikes and even bike rides to some of the surrounding villages on a mountain bike.
Visiting in mid-April was exceptionally good, because the scenery and flora is at its best in there were not many tourists in the village. Unlike some other areas of Romania, the hiking here is quite gentle and not limited to steep mountains and forests requiring long distance walking. The air is fresh and there are plenty of shorter walks to enjoy with open views in different directions. Also most of the residents here keep their dogs safely behind fences so they are not such a nuisance to walkers or cyclists as they can be in other places. The few dogs we met that were loose were mostly very friendly.
Breb is a rural village where many elderly residents still lead a simple country lifestyle with several traditional barns and cottages. However these are interspersed with many new homes and ongoing development has occurred so it no longer has retained the homogeneity of many other mountain villages in East Europe eg Kosovo, or Vikos in Greece.
Lovely little village, charming, with lots of wooden houses. Off the beaten track in all senses! We stayed in Sub Creasta Cocosului, and couldn't recommend it more. We ended up staying an extra night because it was so nice. Take note—the village roads are unpaved, but still driveable.
