A fascinating mix of old and new, Bucharest is one of those cities where you can find a futuristic structure of glass and steel next to an old church, separated by a Communist-style massive edifice. Not overwhelmed by its dark past, the city is now turning its optimistic face towards the West.
Undergoing constant modernization, the city continually changes and new modern structures pop up in the city center and beyond. Great examples are the stunning Basarab Bridge, Europe’s widest cable bridge, and the City Gate Towers.
While admiring the new, don’t miss out on the old classics, like the Parliament Palace, the world’s second largest building, with over 3100 rooms and impressive marble interiors covering 81.5 acres. Make sure you check out the view from Nicolae Ceauşescu's balcony!
To fully appreciate the city’s long history, from Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula) to the ’89 revolution, the city offers free guided walking tours, giving you a great opportunity to discover all the city’s secrets. And spot all the best shopping venues!
Before you land at Bucharest Airport, just 11 miles from the city center, make sure you check what Booking.com has to offer: from hotels to apartments, just a few clicks away!
Bucharest is a big city, a crowded place with lots of old buildings which look dirty (sorry not a fan even if you tell me they represent history and restauration is not necessary. In my opinion restauration could bring out the beauty in them and the nice architecture). If you plan to come just be aware of the crazy traffic, the crowded streets, the noise. Commuting is easy since there are trams, busses, taxi, uber but it takes time. There are a lot of places to visit, food to taste, a lot of malls to buy stuff as well. My advice is to plan ahead what you want to do. If you want to figure it on the spot believe me it will make your head hurt!
Bucarest is very nice city, the people are very nice and helpful, i had a problem there but all people were so helpful, even police was so helpful and i will never forget this experience... was so great, i will come again one tip... if somene says to you do share the taxi... dont do it...
Very friendly helpful people. Easy to walk to many sites from Old Town. Peasant Museum small but interesting. Large art museums on Calea Victoria with well displayed beautiful pieces. Especially enjoyed Vatra Romanian restaurant, very close to Old Town and Saray, a Turkish Restaurant in Old Town. Visit and tour of the Palace of the Parliament was excellent and especially recommended.
If you manage not to mind too much about the derelict historical buildings and the homeless beggars, Bucharest can prove to be a very interesting destination, wether you are looking for night life, culture or history. You should not miss the Union Square fountains, the „Calea Victoriei” street that becomes pedestrian-only during the weekend, and you should definitely search for and try the hidden gem „Flavors restaurant”
We have never before encountered a European capital where ALL the major museums & galleries are closed on 2 successive days, Monday & Tuesday. If art & history are among your major interests, pick your arrival day more carefully than we did.
Dirty and noisy city! Traffic is awful with ALL the drivers unrespectful in traffic! Dogs on the streets, beggars at all traffic stops, very expensive services with no proper quality! A few things to visit only but for sure a non truistic city!
Hotel location is fantastic in a small alley that leads you right into Lipsicani in Old Town within 8 mins. Very clean and superb bathroom. Comfortable beds, free mini bar and coffee and tea supplied. Mini bar gets refilled every day with beer, soft drinks and confectionery. Room very bright n cheerful in decor which we like. Just a real fantastic stay all round. Don't hesitate to book this place if you are going to Bucharest I certainly will if I'm ever back there 👍
Sector 1, Bucharest
Cozy little apartment situated right in the heart of Bucharest. Best of both worlds: you have everything you'll need right downstairs ( coffee shop, restaurants, market, Old Town is really close ) and you will also be able to relax as apartment in situated in a really peaceful area and has really good curtains if you want to sleep in more.
Nicely located hotel within walking distance to the Old Town and main tourist sites including right down the street from the Unirii fountains. Easy check-in. Nice, quiet room with a comfortable bed on 2nd floor facing the main street. Buffet breakfast was pretty good with hot/cold foods, great selection of breads, cheeses, fruit, and juices.
it’s a great boutique hotel. location is perfect, walking distance to the old town and just a few steps from the university square, in a quiet street. very clean and safe. stuff are very professional and smiling. especially I want to thank Daniela from the front desk. she made my first day in Bucharest easy. thank you for your kind hospitality.
Fantastic hotel in a perfect location for the Old Town of Bucharest or the popular Calea Victoriei. Rooms were comfortable with everything you would expect. Nice bar area open 10:00 - 22:00 and well run reception staffed 24/7. Breakfast was varied regardless of your taste. I would highly recommend this hotel.
The hotel location is great; on the edge of the pedestrian zone, so cabs/Ubers can get to you easily but you can also get to heart of the old town easily. Loads of cool things to see and do within a short walk. The hotel is upscale for the city. Staff is very helpful and friendly.
This was an exceptional experience of a true 5 star hotel. Everything was excellent, from the staff to the room and the breakfast. This made my trip to Bucharest really unforgettable. This is the best hotel I’ve ever stayed in and I had a lot of other 5 star hotels in my life.
Sector 3, Bucharest
Rivalling what to expect from a 5 star hotel except the in-person service. Modern, fresh, easy check in(even when arriving at 3am), good amenities. The neighbourhood is bussin and lively, do expect a lot of more or less happy and drunk people in the old town during nighttime!
Sector 4, Bucharest
Maybe the best choice in Bucharest and one of the best appartment we ever stayed anywhere else. - Interior design is great, made with love and proffesionalism - location is great, near singning fontains and old town - 3 two persons beds - the building has a doorman
