FAQs about hotels in Bucharest

Where Modern Meets Old

A fascinating mix of old and new, Bucharest is one of those cities where you can find a futuristic structure of glass and steel next to an old church, separated by a Communist-style massive edifice. Not overwhelmed by its dark past, the city is now turning its optimistic face towards the West.

Undergoing constant modernization, the city continually changes and new modern structures pop up in the city center and beyond. Great examples are the stunning Basarab Bridge, Europe’s widest cable bridge, and the City Gate Towers.

While admiring the new, don’t miss out on the old classics, like the Parliament Palace, the world’s second largest building, with over 3100 rooms and impressive marble interiors covering 81.5 acres. Make sure you check out the view from Nicolae Ceauşescu's balcony!

To fully appreciate the city’s long history, from Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula) to the ’89 revolution, the city offers free guided walking tours, giving you a great opportunity to discover all the city’s secrets. And spot all the best shopping venues!

Before you land at Bucharest Airport, just 11 miles from the city center, make sure you check what Booking.com has to offer: from hotels to apartments, just a few clicks away!

As our stay was relatively short we focused on visiting the old town and some of the city's excellent restaurants. We had lunch at the oldest inn in Romania, Hanul lui Manuc, which was a very nice experience, both service and food was excellent. Dinner at two of Chef Joseph Hadad's restaurants, first at MACE where we had a meal experience that was so good that we decided on trying his other restaurant CAJU the following evening. Very good both of them. We tried the subway system (we wanted to see the fossils in the marble floor at the Politehnica station), it was very economic and easy to navigate, with friendly employees who were happy to help us get started. Be careful with operators like Bolt, we booked a car from the airport at what we believed was a fixed price (we were charged immediately) only to find out afterwards that we had been charged double. Our initial payment was refunded and a new was processed without our knowledge. We chose to return to the airport with bus nr. 100 from the stop right in front of the University, at a cost of €1,20 for the two of us. Straight to the airport with only a few stops. Very good.

I wouldn't visit again to be honest. There were some places that were beautiful and some others that weren't. I really liked the therme spa at night and the trip to Transylvania!!The night life isn't something that I liked. It's worth going for 3-4 nights max.

A city in development, you can find ancient places and you can notice the renewal of the city. In the summer months the old city is lively and there are parties in the student square with fountains and lighting games. There are shopping malls and cheap stores and you can also find shopping malls with super brands. The transportation is very good, we chose to order taxis which are relatively cheap, available and there is no need to look for parking.

Very dirtly, overpriced, and full of commie blocks. There is definetely stuff to do and see, but in order to get to those place, you need to navigate through trash, mud, broken roads, cars, noise, and ugly architecture.

Excellent city, highly recommendable to everyone.Travellers on a budget will really appreciate it;) Get lost in its strees and enjoy its architectural (sometimes hidden) gems, not to mention its many many churches. Take the Communist tour; grab a bite at the Fabrica Club and involve in its refreshing atmosphere (that place was all I needed!) ;indulge yourself with a papanatsi, suitable for sweet tooths. Delight your taste with a Romanian lunch at La Mahala;take some fresh air at the so many parks Bucharest has to offer you (Parcul Carul I,Parcul Mihai, etc) Grasp the knowledge of its recent past still present everywhere you look around.

Interesting place to visit and tourist areas felt safe and people were cheerful. I would state to do a walking tour on your first day as it was very informative and gave a good base to get the feel of the place Airport is chaotic and found the people there to be very rude prepare to be bashed about and lose your manners

The Europa Royale Bucharest is excellent. Right next to the Piata Unirii metro and on the edge of Bucharest's Old Town, the location couldn't be better. Being on the edge of the Old Town means it's quieter than most hotels in the area but everything is on your doorstep. The staff are great, the breakfast is good, and the rooms are just what you need for a city break. We stayed at The Europa Royale Bucharest on three separate occasions during our trip to Romania and would happily stay there again.

Everything. I stayed for nearly three weeks in total as I liked it so much. The themed rooms are perfect and I did not hear any noise despite old town location. I stayed in Japan room, but I liked the look of most of the rooms. The staff treat you so well as it is a small personal hotel. Every day the cleaners made the room so nicely. There is a restaurant if you need it but I only had coffee here. It is a place I would recommend to anyone visiting bucharest.

Great hotel within walking distance (10-15 mins with luggage) of Bucharest North station, and 25-30 mins of Old Town/Parliament Palace/Central Park. We did most of our sightseeing on foot from here (though we did put in the miles!). Helpful staff who minded our bags and sorted an early check-in for us. Nice buffet breakfast with a decent selection of cereals, fruit, cheese, meat, eggs, yogurt, tomatoes etc. Decent all-round budget hotel.

Lovely young woman at the front desk (we arrived a bit late). Welcomed us, outlined hotel details, made sure we had all questions answered. Room was exactly as requested (Maroc), quiet, lovely space, plenty of room, great AC, comfy bed. It's in a prime spot in the Old Town but 5 mins walk to major transportation. If in Bucharest this should be on your lodging list.

Room is extremely clean. As it is in the old town a bad smell comes from the drain but when the shower door is closed you can not feel it, this happens in every old town so this is not a complaint about the hotel at all, just FYI. The drinks in the bar were delicious and the bar/front desk employees were really nice and not pestering at all.
