Bucharest.
Bucharest. Big beautiful historic city with none of the crime issues of other cities. There is just too much to see and do here to put in one small review. If you like history, then you can find many historic landmarks and buildings. Tour the history of the city or even the history of communism. So many street restaurants in every neighborhood. All of them high quality food and great service. Some with genuine Romanian food, others with alternative. If you're a shopper, the malls in Bucharest are bigger and cleaner than anything in the states, but with affordable prices. Affordable and very busy. Every neighbord also has a nice park nearby. If you like sports, the entire town had large screen TV's everywhere to watch the UEFA! Even in the wooded parks! Plenty of shade and small businesses (food or boat rentals, for example). You could spend a month in Bucharest and not see/do everything. And at any hour of the day or night. Rent a car and drive from Bucharest to anywhere, mountains north (Brasov, Bran castle, Transfagarasan) east (Contanta, the Black Sea).. Too many "favorite" food places for us to mention. great architecture. Flight just over 3 hours from London, half hour transfer from airport. Reasonable prices. Visited in July whilst there is a heatwave and temperatures 36 - 42 degrees. Run by a nasty aggressive woman, who told me to leave after she kept me waiting for more than 1 hour, I was trying to ring her to find my way in, she told me to go and I said I wanted a refund she said yes, but then told Booking.com I didn`t show up and kept my money. Bucharest has plenty of history, mix of old and new architecture and a lot culture to make every soul happy. The public transportation is fairly good and equipped with mostly new vehicles, comfortable and clean. Like every major cities has it's own homeless and street people, which if you avoid, they don't bother you. It is plenty of police and security presence which makes the visitors feel safe. There is a lot to visit and you wouldn't get bored especially if you take a guided tour.Largeanu
