We stayed at the hotel for a few days, asked for a room on the upper floors - settled with a view of the city. The room was comfortable, there was an iron, ironing board, water was supplied every day, bathroom products were of very high quality, a good hair dryer. It was comfortable to sleep, in the evenings and until about 01:00 there was music from the streets, but not critical for sleep. Breakfast varied, tasty, fruits were excellent. The restaurant is small and can be bustling and noisy during rush hour. The location suited us very well, close to a shop, cafes, currency exchange, restaurants, museums and theaters. We drove to Otopeni airport for about 40-50 minutes in the evening due to traffic jams.

A fascinating mix of old and new, Bucharest is one of those cities where you can find a futuristic structure of glass and steel next to an old church, separated by a Communist-style massive edifice. Not overwhelmed by its dark past, the city is now turning its optimistic face towards the West.
Undergoing constant modernization, the city continually changes and new modern structures pop up in the city center and beyond. Great examples are the stunning Basarab Bridge, Europe’s widest cable bridge, and the City Gate Towers.
While admiring the new, don’t miss out on the old classics, like the Parliament Palace, the world’s second largest building, with over 3100 rooms and impressive marble interiors covering 81.5 acres. Make sure you check out the view from Nicolae Ceauşescu's balcony!
To fully appreciate the city’s long history, from Vlad the Impaler (aka Dracula) to the ’89 revolution, the city offers free guided walking tours, giving you a great opportunity to discover all the city’s secrets. And spot all the best shopping venues!
Before you land at Bucharest Airport, just 11 miles from the city center, make sure you check what Booking.com has to offer: from hotels to apartments, just a few clicks away!
Very friendly helpful people. Easy to walk to many sites from Old Town. Peasant Museum small but interesting. Large art museums on Calea Victoria with well displayed beautiful pieces. Especially enjoyed Vatra Romanian restaurant, very close to Old Town and Saray, a Turkish Restaurant in Old Town. Visit and tour of the Palace of the Parliament was excellent and especially recommended.
If you manage not to mind too much about the derelict historical buildings and the homeless beggars, Bucharest can prove to be a very interesting destination, wether you are looking for night life, culture or history. You should not miss the Union Square fountains, the „Calea Victoriei” street that becomes pedestrian-only during the weekend, and you should definitely search for and try the hidden gem „Flavors restaurant”
We have never before encountered a European capital where ALL the major museums & galleries are closed on 2 successive days, Monday & Tuesday. If art & history are among your major interests, pick your arrival day more carefully than we did.
Dirty and noisy city! Traffic is awful with ALL the drivers unrespectful in traffic! Dogs on the streets, beggars at all traffic stops, very expensive services with no proper quality! A few things to visit only but for sure a non truistic city!
Bucharest is a vibrant city with plenty of things to explore. Take a walk from Victoriei square to Unirii, have a drink in one of the many bars you will find, mingle with people and enjoy your city brake.
Although I’m pleased I have visited in principle, I’d have been better off hopping straight in a train north to Transylvania- but maybe that’s just me!! But Bucharest felt very safe day and night(as a solo female traveller) and is a very walkable city with some interesting things to see.
