Search hotels in Kragujevac

It's a very clean city with much more trees than Niš (my city). It's easy to navigate through Kragujevac and every street leads to a square where it is easy to see where you've been and where you are at the moment, it's very hard to get lost basically. There are markets (like Maxi or Idea) at every corner if you need refreshments or you don't want to go to restaurants for food. Since we stayed there for practically one entire day (we were there at the wedding for one entire day and departed after breakfast at the hotel, thus the only one entire day), we only visited one place with great praseće pečenje (roast pork) called Aleksandar Veliki (Alexander the Great) - Google maps show a wrong location, ask locals where the restaurant is once you are up in the hill, but basically just look at the street numbers and head upward when maps tell you to stop if you don't see the restaurant; also, the restaurant was recently rebranded with this name, the name can be seen at the door inscription. There are also a few museums near the city center, but their working hours are until 2:30 pm or 3 pm. A must see place - memorial park Šumarice and museum 21st October, a testimony of terrorism of the Nazi Germany in Serbia, a tribute to murdered students from local schools (and specifically one entire class), their teachers, friends, family and neighbors (around 2800 people were executed in mass shootings in the course of 3 days). This one has better work hours than others, it can be seen on Google and their website; the tickets are 100 RSD, so basically less than €1/$1. What may be missing is the translation of the comic since it is only in Serbian, but I advise you to use Google lens and translate it, it contains a lot of important information regarding the massacre of people in that area.

Strengths: old historical city, nice people, interesting Memorial Museum, a lot of symbolic statues, good and cheap food; Weaknesses: old infrastructure, there are still poor houses in the downtown, there are unclean places in the downtown.

Kragujevac is about 140 km away from Belgrade, and 155 km from Nicola Tesla airport. Kragujevac is the 4th largest city in Serbia. City is beautiful and clean. Countryside also very beautiful and clean. People are very friendly and helpful. Food is delicious, especially Serbian traditional food. Fresh fruits and vegetables available everywhere. Very good Serbian wines are available in every corner.

I came short for work, and I'm sorry I did not have more time. I would definitely mention one place near Kragujevac. At 14 km from town there is one touristic village "Luznice". Fantastic ambience, excellent food, nature like in a fairy tale, and for the summer, beautifully designed swimming pools. I can not wait to return. I will spend part of the holiday at Hotel Lama and in the village Luznice.

We felt like locals, experiencing daily life as they would. The people are very friendly. The marketplace is a must see. The Orthodox Cathedrals are spectacular too. It is very laid back and they don't make a fuss over tourists. The food is great. A meet lovers paradise! Plenty of vegetarian dishes too of course.

I stayed two nights in the city. On the first evening I visited Lake Bubanj, the city center and the old church. Next day was the highlight of my visit to Kragujevac: "October 21" museum and Sumarice memorial park. The museum tells the story of the massacre of a few thousands of local citizens, which was conducted by the German occupation army during October 1941. I would highly recommend visiting this museum.
