Loznica is a town of contrasts. But I really like its raw authentic feel. The people are very friendly and regardless of the day of the week, the town is buzzing in the evenings. There is real energy in the air and people value their socialising. I also love the many pastry shops and the small round bread. The various 'Pitas" are delicious. And if you love black coffee, then you will love the small "domacha" coffee they serve. Loznica/Serbia gives you the European experience without the huge price tag. Loznica is big ebough to explore, but small enough to walk everywhere. Near Loznica you have several attractions including, the Drina River with the Suncana Reka resort, the Monastery at Tronos, the preserved small village of Trsic where the man responsible for their written language lived and Gucevo a wonderful scenic destination. There is a health resort close-by with beautiful parkland called Banja Kovrljaca. Bosnia is about a 10 minute drive just over the Drina River. There are many places to stay and with a budget of under $100 per day, you will stay in very beautiful accommodation. Depending what you buy to eat, dinners can range from $5 - $20. I always go to a cafe called Intermezzo which sits over the canal and a coffee/bar/nightclub called Don Carlos with a hidden courtyard. Unfortunately, in many cafes pleople still smoke inside but there are some where it is limited to certain areas. I would encourage people to try Serbia for something new. Their local traditional food is really great. Go to their Tara National Park - it's truly spectacular!
