Ždiar is mostly known for skiing in winter. I was there in summer so the best attraction is Walking path high in the trees (chodník korunami stromov) - very nice and romantic walk in nature. Other than that there is nothing much, but you have other cities nearby like Tatranská Lomnica where you have plenty of good restaurants and small attractions. Close you have Belian cave which is a popular tourist place.
Ždiar is one of the last authentic Mountain villages in Slovakia, we enjoyed visiting all the small pubs and restaurants, owned by friendly locals. Nature is amazing all year, skiing possible in season. Great local food in Goralská krčma. Nice bed and breakfast at Penzion Enrico.
Lovely village built for the ski and hiking seasons. Pretty small but close to the main places worth a visit. We were at the Lomnicky stit, the Morskie Oko and Bachledka. We would loved to stay longer!!
both time we stayed only overnight, but each time we were looking for a supermarket to buy refreshments and had the luck that they were closed in the evening. At least we were able to swing by there in the morning before we left town. We came to town in April and May and each time the town looked deserted. We were afraid not to be able to get dinner
Amazing view of the mountains with great sunsets. Be prepared for a lot of walking as the village is spread along a valley so it’s very long and thin. We were there out of season ( October) so found transport non existent and had to walk everywhere which is not a problem if you are reasonably fit , I had times when I was out of breath as some roads are going uphill. December to March is high season for ski holiday with much more going on but if you want to get away from it all then Zdiar is just the place for you. Goral restaurant for amazing food and great atmosphere with cheap prices.
Ždiar is a small village in Belianske Tatry. The nature and hills there ste stunning! It is not so crowded as in High Tatras. There are trips for families with small children (Monkova dolina, Tatranská Javorina, Belianska cave with spider park), but also for good hikers (Kopske sedlo, Chalet Plesnivec, Zadné Medodoly and others). Worth to see!
I really recommend this guesthouse if you want to hiking and bicycling in Tatras Mountains on Slovakia part. Owners of this place were very helpful in each element my trip, advised in each solution. The best thing in this place is food which is very tasty. Rooms are very clean and the view from rooms is on amazing Tatras. I am going to come back to this place soon.
Every little think. The house is beautiful and full of character and charm. The facilities are extra good (not just in compassion to Slovakyien houses), we were 2 families and the house was specious, including 2 newly showers, kids/family room, well equipped kitshen. The communcation was good. If I could, I will give it 100 and not only 10.
The breakfast was amazing, the location is ideal for hiking. Nice staff, very clean and large room. There is a small wellness as well, costs 8 euros pretty nice after a long day
Impressive property with high attention to details. Everything is of a superior quality. Hosts are extremely welcoming going the extra mile.
